And it's supposed to be a continuation rather than a reboot.

As long as it's quality I am all for it.. and as long as it doesn't affect the BF audios

A continuation . . . very interesting. I'm pretty tantalized by the possibility of seeing original cast members showing up in Collinsport.

That's....huh. I'm really torn between being thrilled to see Collinwood et al on screen, and the fear of Big Finish not doing any more audios. If I had to choose, I'd definitely choose to hold on to the audio world.

It has been BF that’s kept it alive and kept it new and Vibrant it would be a shame to those guys such as Joe Lidster ,Phipps and Rob Morris to lose what they have built up.I mean that very very much. At least if it does happen I hope these guys get involved in the scripts and all those that have written for the range. They at least know how to write decent and satisfying episodes. Lets see how this pans out.

I'll be honest, hearing it's on the CW doesn't really inspire much interest or confidence - for me, at least. The CW shows I've had an interest in of late I ended up losing interest in pretty quickly. There was a certain feel to all of them that eventually just bored me to death. But, hey, that's just me. I'm more than happy to be wrong, so I'm not making any judgements until it happens.

As the future show runner states he will take as few liberties as possible but hey, that could mean that he will take quite a lot. Seriously I’d put up the money and pay Big Finish to produce it if i could.I could see Panic on the screen and my goodness how freaky would Beyond the Grave and Blood lust be filmed and Flip Side with original cast members included weighty cast members Selby and Sullivan and Lara and Maggie .and used as a jumping off point to a new series.Well as they say “we will always have Paris” 😉 What ever happens please great audio Gods let the audios continue in their own timeline.🙏

i’m falling more under the spell of Dark Shadows every day. It began with a Big Finish offer on the Tony & Cassandra stories in the 1-50 range; then the other audiobooks and full cast dramas; the Barnabas DVD set and the first remake; then the mini series; Return To Collinwood CD and finally eventually the coffin set. I hope CW do the show justice because it deserves to be enjoyed by as many people as possible. Am still working my way through the TV drama via Amazon Prime But i think Audios are my True Love.It came from all the late night radio listening as a child. i got hooked late internet watching decades ago then lost sight of it as I went to work abroad. The audios of Big Finish brought me back and the real love of the show other forum members showed on here and the insight and encouragement they gave me to continue to listen. It deserves another shot yes and I think a continuation rather than a reboot is the route.

CW ... so it means pretty plastic people, one of whom has all the charisma of a cardboard cut out and will be a lead character and a different who works dead hard and becomes an amazing performer despite being hired to speak maybe three lines an episode. It will be a frustrating mix of well written and really predictable.

Aww, let’s give the CW the benefit of the doubt! They have done some really great things with the Archie characters from the 70 years-running comic book series....and while it does have a young, pretty cast, they are surprisingly good actors and the series is very dark, moody and atmospheric (and a little weird) yet retains that soapy vibe that makes DS so attractive! Yes, I’m sure it will have a new “diversity” that is ever-present today, but that’s not a bad thing. I’m going to be all-in giving it a chance.

I'm looking forward to it. Even if it bombs or doesn't end up seeing the light of day, another attempt was made. Big Finish was able to continue during the Burton/Depp phase, so they must have some good licensing. If memory serves right, they recently renewed Dark Shadows licensing until 2022, but I can't figure out where I saw that. Getting back on point, Big Finish not only outlasted the third Dark Shadows movie, but also ended up gaining fans during that time. It's been wonderful reading fans of the show share their excitement online and I know I've been doing my part gently spreading the good word about streaming the show and Big Finish's own brilliant continuation. It's funny when you run into fans who don't know about either, but it does happen.

Never seen it. Never listened to it. The movie with the vile Johnny Depp from couple years ago looked awful.

Dark shadows has never been my cup of tea, the few that I've listened too (Collinsport Christmas, snowflake, bloodlust 1 and beyond the grave) didn't do much for me.
That being said, I hope the show does well enough to gain an audience.
I am concerned for the licensing though, I hope this doesn't impact Big Finish at all. While it's not for me, I do respect that it has gathered quite the dedicated fandom on here and I'd hate to see you all lose the range.

The movie was terrible i will grant you that. but i wont comment on the TV show which i do enjoy from time to time. The audios i think are some of Big Finishes best drama and done in such a way that new listeners are not alienated. The Flip Side and Panic are great tales and its good to hear good American actors as well.Does it help to know the Tv show-probably but i have enjoyed all the audios with the scarcest of knowledge of it. I would say am a Big Fan of it (the audios) and if the TV show reincarnation was done as well as the BF audios it could gain a whole new fan base as the return of Doctor Who did.

Just to say, I didn't just like the Time Burton movie, I loved it. I've never really understood all the criticism as it's a rather affectionate spoof of the original series, almost what The Curse of Fatal Death is to Doctor Who (though with a Hollywood budget). Maybe a lot of Dark Shadows fans wanted a straight non-comedy version, but really they got that with the two original 1970s DS movies that featured members of the original cast, something no one will ever top. For anyone who has never seen the 2012 movie, ignore the nay-sayers and give it a go. Perfect fun viewing for Halloween even if you've never seen the original TV series.

Never seen it. Never listened to it. The movie with the vile Johnny Depp from couple years ago looked awful. Fortunately, I think the Depp movie is pretty far removed from the rest of the series, both the TV show and the audios. The TV show might sometimes leave a bit to be desired, but it's incredibly brave and different for a soap, and I really enjoy that there's so much to it, as well as things you can lovingly poke fun at, very much as with Doctor Who. For a serious TV series, there are some hilarious viewer commentaries on Dark Shadows.
