do you think that the new series would have benefitted from re-dressing their standard dalek colours from time to time, similar to how the classic series did? are there any combinations that work well or ought be avoided? 1) I thought the new series did redress Dalek colours... didn't we get some brightly coloured humpback Daleks at one stage?! 2) I'd avoid bulky bright coloured Daleks! Seriously though, I do like the bronze new series Daleks, they look nice and more importantly, they look battle ready. I'm not one for different Dalek prop paint jobs every story just for the sake of it... if it's related to the story and references a rank structure, fine. But generally, I just want to see Daleks going around exterminating... unpainted Daleks would be fine if they're doing that!

Ironsides was to me a great example of how varying the colour of the bronze model could really perk up the episode. I wish it had been done more often instead of bronze bronze and more bronze. Well ... we did get a different 'coloured' Dalek in the last televised DW story Resolution!

Oh, wait, I had something for this... *rummage*It wasn't on television, but... *rummage* *rummage*The troupe going around doing The Daleks Master Plan and Evil of the Daleks stageplays knocked up some nice alternatives. I always thought if we got a scientific division on television they could look like this:

I liked the paradigm Daleks once they got a more muted colour to them.
but I do think the bronze Daleks do need some new paint at this point, something to make them stand out a little more.

I always thought if we got a scientific division on television they could look like this: @wolfie53 that is beautiful just the sort of thing that I think is needed I've tracked down the Masterplan website where you can find more photographs. The 2005 era designs work really well, I feel. They look weighty and have a sense of presence about the way they move. I don't think you have to mess around with them too much, but it would be interesting from time-to-time to see new variants (like Resolution). The Daleks are all about cunning, after all, they'd have specialisations for everything. There was someone who came up with a New Series hierarchy with a bunch of differing drones, but I can't remember who it was at the moment. A chap called Librarian-bot did a few for a Supreme Dalek, Special Weapons Dalek and an Eternity Circle Dalek (from Engines of War), though:

2005's Bronze Boys are my favorite Dalek design. They look great, and they match the classic look well with some added enhancements. Outside of maybe painting one black every once in a while for rank, I don't see the need for a bunch of different colors. I mean, we don't have purple Cybermen or yellow Ice Warriors just to shake things up, after all. Sticking with one iconic look plus minor variations here and there is good enough for me, personally. New Dalek Paradigm, you say? What's that?

Having seen the pictures above, I would absolutely love a proper new series special weapons Dalek.
I was delighted in the one line( I think it was just one line) he had in the series 9 opener, but I want more!

Hello again.
Not really sure about the rest of the Dalek Paradigm but please can Heinz aka the Baked Bean Dalek become the new Dalek Supreme.
Ah go on, Heinz will be the toast of the Dalek Empire.

Why do Daleks care about fashion?

Why do Daleks care about fashion? It's a bit humdrum, but maybe they recycle? If a Dalek returns from combat with a dead mutant and a broken battle computer, it would be difficult to determine what the casing was originally designed for. Colour-coding them cuts out a lot of the guess work, parts can be harvested immediately and if it's someone important like a Dalek Supreme, they can be replaced.

Perhaps, if we need to cook up an in-universe theory.
It's not one of the things that annoys me. I fully understand that they look different because someone thought it would look better and the viewers agreed (well, other than Moffat's 'new paradigm' Daleks). But it does strike me as silly for dalek designers to be coming up with new color schemes for the rank and file. New weaponry, ok. But not fashion...
