Bad enough that the Eternals, obsessed with diversion, fled their homes in disgust. Where continuity and reset buttons are weaponised to knock the enemy off-balance. I thought they ran away in Fear at the consequences of this Time War. I still want to see a story around the Fall of the Crucible Yeah, that'd be cool. What would make the Master so terrified as to flee to Utopia? You've got me to crack open my old copy of the 2006 Annual. Last thing I do before I head to sleep, old thing's covered in dust. Looks like the passage was: It makes me wonder what a Time War story with Vortis might look like...? Also, here's a very interesting tidbit for all. We don't often get to hear about the other conflicts that came before, but:

I like the idea of the Time Lords acting as a check on the balance of power between these massive powers. We hear in the Gallifrey series how they cope with the up and coming temporal powers, but their relations with the more ancient and immensely powerful civilisations are quite unexplored.

Given the devastation that was caused by the Time War shouldn’t the Doctor be a fugitive really from the races that his people and the Daleks harmed? I mean they were all quick enough to try to trap him in the Pandorica, why not those that weren’t technically his enemies?
Looking for a scapegoat or at least someone to blame in the aftermath ,since the Daleks had vanished and the Time Lords had vanished,he technically should have been,if known he was still alive a hunted man.I enjoyed Trial of The Valeyard ,it would have been interesting to see the Doctor on Trial (as far as am concerned he was the unwitting pawn in Time Lord strategy in Genesis).
I love what Wolfe said about Hurts Doctor not choosing his incarnation yes it was selected by McGanns Doctor but somehow I think the Sisterhood Choose for him and selected what they would like to see as his next incarnation.Given that the incarnation we got was well a DOCTOR.
I know when we get to the end of the TIME WAR sagas going on there will be interesting avenues still to explore and once the writers have regrouped and refreshed we will see the stories come to light.
are there problems with the rights to THE RANI?

I’d assume the reason the Doctor was never hunted down by such races, was because whatever the Time Lords and Daleks did to them left them either totally destroyed or with their civilisations crippled to a point where they simply couldn’t do anything meaningful to hunt him down. In Rose the Nestene Consciousness does seem to accuse the Doctor of complicity in the destruction of its worlds, though we don’t know precisely what it was saying, so that’s one example of him kinda being held answerable for the Time Lords’ actions.

Personally I prefer McGanns Pre Time War stories. But appreciate what has been given to us.I couldn’t write a story and I tend to go where a writer takes me good or bad. But I would like accountability to some authority for the races involved in the War. We talked of Farscape in some other thread and Ultimate Weapons was superbly covered by them in the last 15 minutes of the Peacekeeper Wars by John Crichton and urge anyonewho hasn’t seen it to go You tube it.Crichton I always envisioned is what the Doctor should have been/said in the Day of The Doctor to both races...it still today ,for me is the most powerful television fiction and anti Ultimate weapons and Peace speech done on television.

My Time War trilogy The Pentamerous will rectify this. It starts in a more traditional way then head off into mind & time bending visceral chaos. first i had to. Look up the definition of Pentamerous. Is this a true work you are writing/have written?

But I have been thinking about a few stories following on from the 'Gallifreyan Suicide Squad' idea.

I’d love it if Big Finish could do something with the unrecorded scripts for the War Doctor. We know that there are at least three, as a fifth set was due to be recorded at the end of 2016, but John Hurt wasn’t well enough, sadly. We also know that Leela continued to travel with the Doctor in it. It would’ve been interesting to see what Leela made of this Warrior incarnation the more time they spent together. We do get an insight in Casualties of War, but the events of the story don’t allow it to be explored to its full potential.

Give it to McGann-the regeneration was shoddy and incomplete ,he did not drink enough of it reverts for a time to his previous form/s give all the existing doctors a shot at the true horror of the war-put them all in the midst of it . Davison-saving one life in the midst of calamity tom Baker Confronting the Daleks as only he can Colin Baker-being target practice🤪 Pertwee(Treloar)delivering a glorious anti war speech. Etc etc etc. Troughton(Hines) confronting the Time Lords HArtnell(Purves) on the reason he left the bunch in the first place. Give each Doctor on audio a chance to see the TIME WAR from their Doctors personality perspective

Not coming soon to Big Finish a new trilogy, The Time War: The Pentamerous. The Time War rages on, infecting all of causality. One terrible day the most heroic of individuals will commit the most monstrous of acts. But before then, deep within the forgotten chambers of Gallifrey's most noble citadel, desperate Time Lords set in motion a desperate plan to fight evil with evil. Derek Jacobi (The War Master) Mark Bonnar (The Eleven) Rufus Hound (The Meddling Monk) Michael Jayston (The Valeyard) Thandie Newton (The Rani) with Julia McKenzie (The Twelve) Charlotte Rampling (Cardinal Ollistra) Time War:The Pentamerous Vol 1. 1. A Malevolent Menagerie 2. Behind the Veil 3. Cry Havoc... 4. The Head of the Serpent Time War: The Pentamerous Vol 2. 1. Long Live the King 2. Temporal Attrition 3. Things Fall Apart 4. In Other Worlds Time War The Pentamerous Vol 3. 1. Casus Belli 2. Lacerated Time 3. The Slaves of History 4. What Was Lost

I'd presume in this team the War Master would be in charge with the Rani as second in command? The Eleven would very much be a wildcard I would imagine.

I recently listened to all the 8th Doctor Time War plays and it’s easily the weakest collection of 8th Doctor audios. The best ones are The Starship of the Theseus and The Rage of the Time Lords, but most of them fall into a fairly familiar pattern of bland science fiction space opera that just doesn’t convey the kind of cosmic horror implied by the Tenth Doctor’s haunted reminiscences on TV. Worst of the lot is The Conscript which plays the Time War for comedy in an entirely misjudged way that kicks out any credibility from under the series.
I also feel like Bliss is basically Flip - which just doesn’t work for the Time War. She sounds far too unbothered about the horror, and I can’t really understand what the producers are thinking.
Sorry - this is a bit of a downer but I have found on relistening these stories to be a real disappointment and well below what we know Big Finish can do.

I do question why he even has a constant companion at this point. Surely it would make sense if he were going it alone, refusing to expose any more innocents to the horrors of the Time War. You could even say that the constant interference from his fellow Time Lords and their attempts at recruiting him to their cause is foreshadowing of his next incarnation where he begrudgingly accepts his sense of duty.
