Given the frequency of releases, I shudder to think of how infinitesimal that budget must be.

Yes, they do seem to be very fine margins, which is why I always support them with pre-orders of the deluxe editions blurays as every sale really will help. I don't think the US/Canada even get these on blu, either the standard or deluxe steelbook do they?

And yeah, North America gets rather the short end of the stick with DW BDs. I don't know if we've had any of the animations come to BD in Region A. We also didn't get a BD release for the McGann film, the last two series sets did not include the holiday specials (this may have been the same in UK, I'm not sure), classic series seasons are released months after the UK releases, we have the stupid wrong nomenclature on the classic series seasons, etc. All of this eats at my OCD

Or, it could be something as simple as 'Dalek Cutaway' and release it with that new filmed version.

Well, the leaked September 14th date is right, Fury is now official! The TARDIS brings the Doctor, Victoria and Jamie to the Kent coast of England, where the ESGO complex is drawing up natural gas under the North Sea via a huge network of pipes linked to their off-shore rigs. But the Doctor is convinced he can hear something in the pipes, a heartbeat, something… alive? Others at the complex have heard it too, and one by one contact with the rigs is being lost. But Chief Robson will have none of it, and work will continue. And so it does… until sentient, aggressive seaweed begins attacking the base and taking over the personnel one by one, creating a spearhead from which is will launch its attack and enslave the entire human race… Can the Doctor discover a way to stop the weed advancing? Or does the only real chance of success lie with Victoria and if it does, can a way be found to utilise that without harming one of the Doctor’s very best friends… Most of the BBC’s original master recordings for ‘Fury From The Deep’ were lost after the programme’s original transmission. However, audio-only recordings have survived and have been used here to create a brand new fully animated reconstruction of this lost classic. Includes: • Animation Episodes 1-6 (Colour) • Animation Episodes 1-6 (Black and White) • Production Subtitles • Audio Commentaries • Surviving Footage • Episode 6 Film Trims • Episode 6 Behind The Scenes 8mm Footage • Behind the Scenes • Teaser Trailer • Telesnap Reconstruction Episodes 1-6 with Optional Narration by Frazer Hines. • Photo Gallery • The Cruel Sea – Making Fury From The Deep • Archive Interviews • The Slide Audio Drama • PDF Scripts

ps What's The Slide audio drama?
It's a Victor Pemberton 60s radio sci-fi that was his proto-Fury, with a lot of the same beats. He'd submitted it for Who quite early in the Hartnell era but it got rejected. Roger Delgado is in it, as is a very young Miriam Margoyles. I don't think it's ever been repeated but it has been released on disc:

And Vincent did Robert Holmes' Aliens In The Mind for BBC Radio (also on CD), along with Peter Cushing in another rejected Who script. Tantalizing how close we got on radio to Price essentially doing Doctor Who when he worked a lot in the UK.

Completely off topic, but would Aliens in the Mind be suitable for adaptation by BF as a "lost" Robert Holmes Doctor Who story?

I don't think it got past the treatment stage, or if the treatment survives. I guess it could be extrapolated from the existant story but it'd be stretching things a bit. It feels more like a Pertwee era story than anything else. For anyone who wants a listen, it's on YT. www.youtube.com/watch?v=H_eSzK6IWsQ

The steelbook artwork is stunning. It really makes these worth keeping after their inevitable inclusion in The Collection. Fury from the Deep isn’t a story I know a great deal about, so I’m very much looking forward to watching it!

Yes, once again they've gone all out on some amazing art for the steelbook. The normal artwork isn't as bad as something like Macra Terror was but the standards never look half as nice. If anyone wants the art as a desktop:

It feels rather odd being excited about an announcement...despite having ordered and paid for it over 9 months ago when it first went up for pre-order!
