I was only talking to someone today about the fact we were still awaiting confirmation of the second 2021 animation (after the promise of two animations per year as of last year). As I've mentioned several times in this thread already, it's not remotely surprising to learn Evil is the next one, but it's thoroughly exciting!!! Can't wait!

I like the reddish night behind the Dalek emperor. It's really evocative: However, I'm not super-fond of the composition on 2 and the companions. Something just seems a bit... off to me, where they are positioned.

Is there any difference in content between the DVD, Blu-Ray and Steelbook? (I can't really see why they bother with all three versions if there isn't)
And another exciting inclusion that’s hidden in the announcement; Tom Baker’s narration of the story.
I think they did that on one of the past animation DVDs, but it wasn't an mp3 so there was no way of listening to it at one's own convenience.

Worth noting that the existing episode has been restored this time:
On the matter of cover art, I quite like the NTSC (draft?) cover based on the Vinyl box set. I would venture so far to say that I prefer it over the other variants:

The Figurine Collection "leaked" this and Amonimable Snowmen as being worked on back in March but I don't think ANYONE expected Evil to come just a month after Web.

Now, I'm excited as anyone for this, but it seems getting it done wasn't smooth sailing. Here's one of the animators (Babelcolour also chips in and says it mirrors his experience on Mind of Evil):

The steelbook used to have exclusive content compare to the Blu-ray when these first began, but don't now. They release the three versions to cater for everyone; the steelbook market is really big. For me it started out because Power of the Daleks had the colour version exclusive to the steelbook, but since then I've collected the steel of each release. They look great together on the shelf and when The Collection gets round to the 60s seasons and these animations are no doubt included, I'll keep the steels because of the art. I didn't know that about Tom's narration, must have passed me by.

Congrats to a guy I know from my hometown (he isn't on this forum) he worked on this release in a small capacity and made the "official" announcement on facebook, his feed popped up on my lunch break. He has done a few of these stories for the BBC. Hopefully we get more

It's account specific but I got the steel for £10 less by using promo code DISCOUNT10P on Amazon UK. That'll do.
Give it a go and see if you qualify too - it's any purchase over £25 gets you £10 off.

Given Evil of the Daleks was announced on the anniversary of the final episode airing and it’s out on 27th September, we could possibly get The Abominable Snowmen announced on the 30th September; the 54th anniversary of episode one. I’d imagine a 2022 release, though.

Boo, it didn't work (but certainly worth trying. It's the difference between the Blu-Ray and the Steelbook price)

No Amazon offer on my account - maybe I spend too much with them to need incentives.
I noticed Zoom (remember them?) are stocking Who releases again and undercutting Amazon by a whole pound on the Evil steelbook. Since the demise of old Zoom they’ve had nothing at all competitively priced till now but I’m not willing to put my trust in the new Zoom owners on as big a release as this (even with the animations not selling out in the same way as the classic and new series steels do).

I have checked and I am eligible for a £5 off £25 (limited to 5,000 vouchers). Seems to be based on frequency and amount of spend, as it is time limited also. Will consider it, as I really only want the DVD for that collection. Where I have opted for the steel book or Blu-Ray for these in the past I have only then gone and double dipped for the DVD when the prices came down, so no saving in the end. I kind of get where these things used to come from. A limited batch of special packaged editions to get the punters into Woolies or Virgin Megastores on release date back in the day, where those just a bit late bought the standard issues instead. But nearly double the price just for a tin shell case? Nobody's getting anything free here and they are making as many as they think they can sell for that matter too. Plus, I like this observation on the general steelbook issue thing from Gareth Roberts:
