It's account specific but I got the steel for £10 less by using promo code DISCOUNT10P on Amazon UK. That'll do. Give it a go and see if you qualify too - it's any purchase over £25 gets you £10 off. Got my Evil of the Daleks Blu-Ray for £19.99! Thanks Davy.

No Amazon offer on my account - maybe I spend too much with them to need incentives.I noticed Zoom (remember them?) are stocking Who releases again and undercutting Amazon by a whole pound on the Evil steelbook. Since the demise of old Zoom they’ve had nothing at all competitively priced till now but I’m not willing to put my trust in the new Zoom owners on as big a release as this (even with the animations not selling out in the same way as the classic and new series steels do). I use them every week for bluray pre-orders so I don't think it's that, it seems to be entirely random. Sorry! I wouldn't mind trying "New Zoom" for these if I didn't have the Amazon tenner off as the animated steels don't sell out on release date but for the regular Season steels or Collection sets? I'd need to be able to trust Patriot, the new owners, more and based on what they've done with Signal One, their film distribution company....yeah...not great. Films delayed for literally years.

And we'll certainly have another Collection set announced by then.

Seems that They are filming a documentary to go with 'The Abominable Snowmen' animation.

Nice to know we’ve got at least another two TBA animations on the horizon!

It's quite possible this link has been posted before but I haven't seen it. This is quite a treat.

Looks like some have received their copies of The Web of Fear early. There’s an indication in one of the documentaries that software for animation has been developed to accommodate the number of characters, costumes and sets that previously made some stories unfeasible.
The consensus seems to be that the scene chosen a few weeks ago to promote The Web of Fear is the weakest of the episode and it’s actually better than what some originally thought. It’s worth noting that this hasn’t been done with any BBC America involvement or budget, so we could get some pretty special stuff with a bigger investment and seemingly overcoming previous restrictions.

I actually re-watched the Web of Fear promo clip a couple of weeks ago and reassessed it. I was originally going to overlook the new release because I thought the animation was dreadful, but with a little time I've actually grown to like it. Knowing that it's a bad representation of the full episode makes me even happier to support the release! Also, we might actually stand a chance of seeing a Marco Polo animation in the not ridiculously far future?!?!?! "Thrilled" does not even begin to describe how I feel about that

Web of Fear steelbook arrived this morning. Looking forward to getting stuck in. I’m surprised they didn’t manage to get the colour animated episode and the recon onto disc one, though. It means you have to swap disc if you want to watch the complete story in any format other than the black and white animation.

Having seen the animated episode, I do agree that the scene shared was one of the weakest in the episode, quality wise. I understand why they chose it in terms of flexing what’s in store in the episode.
Overall it’s a pretty good effort. The sets look great, what some of the characters lack in likeness they make up for in being a bit more lively than the 2D animations. My biggest criticism is that sometimes they’re far too lively, almost as if they’re glitching! Like the majority of the other animations and their distinct styles, what we get reflects the story it’s representing and I’ve always been impressed with how well that’s maintained across the range.
If it’s as scalable and configurable as the team indicate, then I think this is the way forward to bringing some more previously difficult or unachievable stories to life. I wouldn’t want to see the end of the 2D animations post-Evil (and the others being worked on), for those stories that are achievable that way, but with more restrained movement and a bigger budget this Web style can only get better.

Every clip I see from this release makes me less likely to buy it. I hope it’s a one off.

Bearing in mind I haven't actually seen the full episode yet, but I feel like people are being way too harsh. Yes, from what it looks like so far, it doesn't seem to be great, but I think the fandom forgets that actual people worked on this and put time and effort into giving us something different. People need to think about that before tweeting "this looks sh*t". Constructive criticism is fine, but putting it down like that is just rude and disrespectful to the animators, especially since they're likely to see such comments on social media.
Once I've seen it I'll post my thoughts, but yeah... I think the fandom needs to chill out over this.

I'd love to find some merits to this animation, or something constructive I could say about it but sadly every clip I've seen looks just awful, and if someone is hoping I'll shell out good money to buy their product, then I feel entitled to tell them that the quality of the work they've done on this doesn't justify any expenditure from me. If I could buy this new animation on Amazon or itunes for £1.79 I still wouldn't bother, there are fan produced animations that are more convincing.

The Shapeshifter documentary on the bonus disc is brief but interesting. I’d liked to have seen more about the motion capture, as I wonder if it’s those animators they used moving too much, which is reflected in the final animation. I think if that’s dealt with then, potentially be getting actors in, it’d be a more polished production.
There’s a brief clip of the Doctor and Sara in the TARDIS from The Daleks Master Plan in there and the likenesses are better. I don’t think that’s a sample clip, it looks like it’s what the team are working on next. Given we know Galaxy 4 and The Abominable Snowman are on the cards, presumably for 2022 release, we could have DMP in 2023 to tie-in with the 60th anniversary of the show. Given that’s a huge undertaking, it’ll obviously have some BBC America funding. If they can use that to add detail to the likenesses and address the character movements, then they’ve got a great toolset there to tackle some stories previously deemed difficult.

Well, yes, but like I said, constructive criticism is fine but pretty much every comment on Twitter is “this looks sh*tty”. I saw one person demanding that the BBC release Evil of the Daleks early to help get over it. There’s not liking it and there’s being OTT about it. These animators put time and effort into this project to bring us something a bit different than the usual 2D animation only for people to absolutely tear it to shreds and just being plain rude about it. Also 99% of these comments are coming from people who have only seen out of context clips or screenshots, instead of actually watching it and making their mind up themselves.

What would be constructive criticism? All these animations do look sh*t.
