Great news, I thought historicals were judged too difficult I thought that was solely because of the number of scenery changes and the ability to animate elaborate costumes to an expected standard.

Yep, and character numbers. Marco Polo and Highlanders in particular were cited - loads of sets, very intricate costumes and lots of different outfits with sizeable supporting casts. Charles did add however that technology meant some stories made now could not have been done even 5-10 years back so...heres hopin it comes on. As I understand it, AI which anticipates movements and how clothes etc would move is now much easier to use in cheaper animation wheras even in 2010 it would be Pixar only who could dream of affording it.

If this is true then hopefully the animations are saved through the Bad Wolf-Sony deal.

If this is true then hopefully the animations are saved through the Bad Wolf-Sony deal. At least that would indicate just how much loose/ disposable cash there is in the deal On the practical side I'm not surprised, but its a shame we'll now probably never get the fully reconstructed Underwater Menace and/ or Complete Seasons 3-6 on Blu-Ray Regards mark687

I’m not sure where the Bad Wolf / Sony deal comes into this? The animations are via BBC Studios and they’re responsible for merchandising, I don’t believe the deal alters that in any way. If BBC America have pulled funding, then it’s for BBC Studios to find another source of revenue to help fund, fully fund themselves or end the animated range.
The only involvement I could imagine Bad Wolf having is by proxy. If the appeal of the show grows as a result of them, then that could potentially cause the likes of BBC America to renew interest in funding. Even then there’s a difference between archive Who and the current series.

I didn't even realize BBC America was co-funding them. And now I'm baffled as to why, considering they can't be bothered to put out Region A releases of the animations.

Abominable snowman on bluray, available in Canada?! Pigs must be flying! I just hope that the release date is a place holder, I know who release dates are bad in Canada, but next January is intolerable!

So Apparently there is a new rumor going on that Russel T Davies will be introducing an animated mini series starring Paul McGann as The Doctor for BBC3 from what the comments are it will be set in the time war with Lalla Ward Reprising her Role as Romana, Nicholas Briggs as The Daleks and even more baffling Timothy Dalton will be reprising his role as Rassilon
Naturally i think this rumor is false for a number of reasons
1) The Time War was concluded in 2013 and i doubt RTD would want to revisit that era 2) Timothy Dalton coming back is highly unlikely if Big Finish couldn't get him back and if he declined to return for Hell Bent then i seriously think he would give it a miss 3) It would contradict a lot of Big Finish Time War Stories (including The War Doctor, Richard Armitage and Gallifrey Vol 4's Ending) i mean i am not fussed if they are rewritten to have Paul as The Time War Doctor but given how RTD has a love for Big Finish i doubt they would do something like that 4) I Doubt Bad Wolf would even have the budget or resources to do an animated series (hell if there was an animated show it would feature David Tennant or Tom Baker's Doctors as they are hugely popular in the comparison to McGann's Doctor

There will be a lot of bullshit rumours over the next 18 months. Best thing to do is ignore them and if any do turn out to be true it will be a nice surprise.
That said I can confirm that there will be a Five-ish Doctors sequel and that Eccleston will appear in it since it's not bring Produced by RTD.
Honest!

I think this is within the realm of plausibility, perhaps as a followup to TLV "Daleks!" with a better budget, and so long as the series didn't contradict "Night of the Doctor" there shouldn't be any continuity issues. RTD had animations back in his day, remember The unconvincing bit, though, is the fact that this is pretty much what fans who post on Facebook demand in response to every single BF post. It's a bit too on-the-nose.

An animated series on BBC3 would be a surprise as BBC3 has never showed anything animated to my knowledge and it’s new TV revival seems to have focused on reality TV and comedy more then anything else.
It does feel very fan wish fulfilment. RTD is not going to wave a magic wand and make everything the internet wants.

Wasn't Family Guy originally on BBC3? The Mr Hell Show? Popetown was the notorious animation that they cancelled before broadcast.
