Or a rematch... *scratches chin thoughtfully* Does The Seeds of War mention that he's only met them once before or is it a bit more vague than that? As I understood it they only mention the meeting of 4 with the Eminence in "Destroy the Infinite". The events of that story get referenced directly. Shame, because you could turn Destroy the Infinite into a victory for the Eminence and lead from there. It's not out-of-character for them to sacrifice their own forces to push a further objective. The Earth Alliance wins back Delafoss, life returns to normal, only no one is aware that they are carrying the Infinite Warriors across space. Dormant. Waiting for reactivation. Even the Doctor himself is still infected, but other events like infection by the Swarm in The Invisible Enemy have masked that fact. You could theoretically play into the idea that he wasn't completely taken over, but it's unclear how much of his actions were his own and how much were the Eminence. They used him to spread themselves through space and time -- and he never knew it. That's a particularly creepy notion. Not knowing whether the Doctor was acting as himself or as a dormant Infinite Warrior. Better, the Doctor himself not sure about the distinction.
