Hello again.
Norman Lovett's Holly is one of the best computer personalities out there. Like Orac and K9, he's got a bit of attitude. Unlike those computers he has a worrying tendency to make errors, perhaps to wind up the rest of the crew!
Holly: It takes time, this. One slight error in any of my thirteen billion calculations and we'll be blasted to smithereens. Here we go, then: 10, 9, 8, 6, 5- Rimmer: You missed out the seven. Holly: Did I? I've always had a bit of a blind spot with sevens. Rimmer: [sing-song voice] We're going to di-ie. Holly: No problem. I'll start lower down. 1, blast off.
Holly: I just don't know where we are. There's no two ways about it: I flamingoed up! Rimmer: What do you mean? Holly: It's like a cock-up, only much much bigger.

Always happy to have Holly back. As much as I like the newer series, he was conspicuously absent.

Hello again.
What's that Mr Flibble? You're very angry because you're not in the new Red Dwarf trailer. Um Mr Flibble, stop staring at me. What do you mean you've decided to join the Scorchies? aaahh...

What do you mean you've decided to join the Scorchies? aaahh... Been watching 'Quarantine'? All this talk about the need for 'self isolating' makes it seem topical. Everyone's stocking up on Tinned soup, Beans, Dried Pasta & Bog Roll (some are even buying soap!) but how about something soothing, like steak, for the black-eyes that are going to be an inevitable side-effect of this virus containment?

Hello again Daver.
No I haven't but it was funny how that hilarious image of Mr Rimmer bedecked in red and white gingham swam into my head today. I do love that episode, and I'm really looking forward to Red Dwarf the Movie. Containment is going to be stressful particularly for families with young children.
I have missed the Dwarfers there is nothing quite like it.

I have missed the Dwarfers there is nothing quite like it. What got me thinking about it is the idea of forum posters happily binge listening to Big Finish and coming on here for arguments & a bicker when they get 'cabin fever'. I used to find at school when the students weren't able to get outside during breaks because of bad weather, that the dining halls looked like the aftermath of a food fight/riot, whilst they could not settle for lessons in the afternoon as their energy levels were too high with being cooped up. I used to call it 'cabin fever' to sum up the craziness that takes hold after a few hours of 1500 kids with no break-out space. So you have my sympathies when they are inevitably expected to 'work for home' - it won't be fun.

Hello again.
Thanks Daver. We are already self-isolating! My youngest has anxiety and selective mutism and so already does her education from an online teaching company organised by the school. She is only able at present to go to CAMHS appointments so either my wife or myself have to stay in with her. Middle daughter is doing GCSEs so if they do end up working from home there will be a fight for the laptop!
You are right about children in school during wet playtimes, they were never fun.

Along with the new teaser trailer, we've also got a promo image of Rimmer and the name of the episode - The Promised Land: www.reddwarf.co.uk/news/2020/03/13/the-promised-land/Given all that we know about this special now, I'm just waiting for them to official confirm everyone's suspicions that this is indeed going to be the end of Red Dwarf. I'd rather it wasn't, but with the premise and title of this episode being what they are I'll be amazed if they are actually planning on doing more.

The fan in me hopes it's not the end, but I'd like to know for sure sooner than later. Given that the show started in 1988 something tells me we're at least closer to the end than not.

Just found this on Twitter: I think the massive secrecy around this initially (along with announcement of the documentaries which we haven't heard anything about since) was why it seemed to me like this was definitely going to be the end, but if not it just seems a little weird to me to only want to do a special rather a full series. Maybe it's an actor availability problem? Either way, I'm still excited for this

To be fair, for as long as the show has been on DAVE there’s been a dearth of show details until shortly before new series are released.

Maybe doing a special in place of XIII is a compromise so there's not nothing on TV for a long period of time? Is this in place of XIII? I also seem to recall XI and XII were commissioned together, so if this does count as XIII I wouldn't be surprised if there was a XIV in the wings at least.
