Depending on your views on Drinking this is very darkly funny,
Its almost the TW version of a plot point from Partners in Crime or maybe DW MR The Wormery .
Dialogue is actually fairly clear to understand(you might need to repeat a couple of bits).
Good all round effort.
Cheers Regards

I enjoyed it, it was a lot of fun. I thought it was a bit similar to Made You Look though.

Good stuff all in all. The drunk acting works well.

Eh, I thought it was too long for what it had to say. Actors playing as if they were drunk is usually cringey and awkward for me. A rare misstep from Goss in my opinion.

I spent the whole time thinking how the hell does she get out of this? I felt like James Goss backed himself into a corner with a story so exciting and Gwen's predicament being so unsolvable. How do you cure an unknown pathogen from your system that takes you over so quickly? There was no good way out of this one that ended with Gwen being alive and ok, so the ending was weak. But while it was going on? Excellent.

Oh wow. This got pretty grim. Good and interesting story. Great acting. Also, a nice change of pace for me. I agree that the resolution was the weakest point of the story, but honestly, there was not much else they could have done in the space of an hour. So yes, this wasn't too bad. But now I need some time to recover....

There's something about the image of Eve Myles on the cover of a Torchwood audio. All black hair and black leather jacket. It just looks 'right' somehow. Yes, Smashed boasts another excellent cover.
The story - well, you know when you have that one friend who is blind drunk, and they think they are hilarious, but everybody else thinks they're acting like an idiot? Smashed could have been like that. But it isn't. Drunk Gwen is hilarious. Eve and Omar Austin as Martyn have some great scenes together, producing some genuine laugh-out-loud moments - before things get very grim, as tuigirl mentions above.
However, whilst the loudmouthed, profanity-filled story is excellent, it begins to outstay its welcome before the ending comes. There's too much of it, and the loudness becomes one-note. With a bit of script pruning here and there, I think it would have been a lot more effective. A shorter play for your bucks, maybe, but more satisfying.
I still love Gwen though!

Agreed, but it could have been sooo much worse (looking at Exile for example...). Yes, they could have taken out maybe 5-8 minutes, and may have tightened up the story a bit. After all, we got the point. But I would not have taken out more than that.
As for the level of grimness... I should not have been too surprised. It is Torchwood after all, and they DO have a warning at the very beginning.

Exile came to my mind too, whilst I was listening to this. Yes, things could have been much worse! I think that perhaps with a story like this, with characters behaving in such a way, less is sometimes more. Having said that, any shortening of the script would have robbed us of some of Gwen's antics which were admittedly very funny!

Very atmospheric, I have to say! Quite claustrophobic as everything kept closing in. Another win for the monthly Torchwood range in my books!

My Big Finish catch-up continues with Gwen Cooper and Torchwood. James Goss remains Big Finish's most consistent writer. Loved the build-up of the stakes. Loved the strains of Ennio Morricone invading the music at the end.

This one was just too long for me, probably the most "disappointing" of this series even though it was entertaining for the most part.

I'd really like to see the script to figure out more of what was going on. Edit: Listened to the last track again and did understand how she "won", but it is really hard to understand her postscript talking to someone in the town. It sounded like two different strains magically wiped each other out.

Just listened to this tonight. Interesting premise, but I found it a little hard to follow. And I'm not a fan in general of listening to track after track of drunkenness. So not one of my favorites.
