Unfortunately that’s the worst Doctor she can meet I would look forward to definitive departure story but cannot say am excited.....I feel sad 😢 No it isn't. That would be 12, even worse than 7! The worst Doctor for Ace to meet would be Three. He'd try to steal her from Seven in a heartsbeat.

Great stuff! I wonder if this will be the new annual treat going forward, now Scratchman has set the precedent and the Douglas Adams stories have been finished? Looking forward to it. Not quite sure why the thread is getting bogged down with discussing Ace’s departures. The synopsis makes no indication of another one and indeed refers to her charity, which ties in with an established piece from The Sarah Jane Adventures that’s been expanded upon in the past couple of years with Gallifrey, Class, the S26 BluRay Trailer. The blurb say the Dr and Ace parted company "in the wake of a terrible tragedy" which does not really tie up with anything we have seen so far relating to the departure. Come on BF, you know what to do

I’m not expecting this to line up with the VNAs (and certainly not Ground Zero), but I’d be a little surprised if it totally overwrote Big Finish, given that Sophie Aldred is writing it. I wouldn’t be surprised if it actually connects with Dark Universe since she would have had the opportunity to coordinate it. It also might explain Big Finish’s pivot away from Time Lord Ace towards “A Charitable Earth.”

So yet another version of Ace's departure. How many is that we're up to now? And does a BBC published novel beat BF in terms of the "real" canonical events? No more Ace on Gallifrey? This lines up perfectly with BF, actually. Class already showed Ace running A.C.E. and spoilers for Gallifrey TW1: Brax dumped her on Earth with hazy memories, as she alludes to in her Class episode. It is about time that Ace met a future Doctor and I am thrilled that it's Jodie.

The way it sidesteps 30 years of fan fic..sorry - established continuity, reminds me of how William Shatner got around his characters on screen demise in Generations. Just read up on it a bit more and apparently its called the 'Shatnerverse', being a series of books he 'co-wrote' which did not worry too much about the continuity of other tie-in ranges and on post TOS screen stuff ("pfft - I maaade Star Trek!!"). It all kind of makes me nostalgic for the line in Mawdryn Undead about Benton working as a used car salesman - far more plausible as a jumping on point of reunion with the Doctor, at least to myself.

As my knowledge of the novels and comic stories continuity from the wilderness years can be written on the back of a postage stamp I am more than a little relieved that I can go into "At Childhood's End" next year without that particular heavy burden. In fact as long as Sophie spins an entertaining yarn I'd be quite happy to embrace the idea of ignorance being bliss. Just this once of course..😉
As for meeting the Thirteenth Doctor...well, why not? If the actions of the Doctor's secretive and manipulative incarnation are still festering under the surface after all these years, imagine the psychological head**** that might await when Ace crosses paths with not only an incarnation that has changed gender, but one that places a value on friendship and finding solutions to crises without the use of violence.

There is more about the upcoming MR Dark Universe on the Main Range thread. It is beginning to sound like it might tie up with Aldred's new novel
