Never ceases to impress me how Big Finish does all these big elaborate teases on Twitter, I guess and guess and guess, and then when the announcement finally comes, my reaction is always the same: "what is [show name], I've never even heard it?"

OK I've slept on it and its still an odd choice Its Enid Blyton meets Quantum Leap and in a case where recasts would make sense they haven't (Sorry my bad they have and done the switch thing) Wikipedia piece on the TV Show en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TimeslipRegards mark687

I watched this on DVD last year and it is classic children's TV from a more innocent and wholesome era, but still enjoyable by adults even today.
I am very glad to read this is coming out and I hope it will do well for BF.
DVD well worth getting for anyone who hasn't seen it.
One slight concern is that one part is written by Marc Platt who is a very imaginative writer but is not always so good when it comes to making his ideas comprehensible to the viewer/listener. Platt needs a strong script editor to ensure his ideas are communicated clearly.

For those of you like me whose knowledge of Timeslip can be written on the back of a postage stamp, the complete series appears to be available on YouTube. Cue the helpful link.. m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLwygboCFkeeBqBw7xWo4oORDSM_WHwFNtAt present I'm very firmly in the category marked "intrigued but undecided".

I guess I'm the prime nostalgia target demographic (70s kid, British TV viewer, sci-fi fan from an early age) and this time I've never heard of it! Not even the faintest of bells set ringing for this one.
Most likely it was broadcast opposite a programme I watched on BBC TV. No possibility of watching after broadcast then so it was either/or. Still, it's surprising I don't even remember the name from school chat - unless we were all watching 'the other side' as we used to say when there were a grand total of two channels!
(Strictly speaking there were three channels by then but to watch BBC2 you had to be a bit posh to have the latest and most expensive TVs and we didn't! )

Wow. There are niche interests and then there's NICHE.
Edit: It's interesting for me as an American listener to see the affection for shows that never landed my radar as an 80s kid watching UK programming on my local PBS station. Never heard of things like Callan, Adam Adamant, Timeslip, Omega Factor, etc. except as possible throwaway mentions in something like a Peter Haining DW book. Even though I'm personally shrugging my shoulders because I have no nostalgia, I sincerely wish them the best and hope they find an audience.

Never heard of it. As I'm cutting down on my BF purchases this one will not be on my buying list.

Chalk me up as another, "Never heard of it".
Interestingly, according to Wikipedia Victor Pemberton (or I guess his family now) owns the rights to it.

I can only really echo what has been said by my fellow contributors here, and that this is obscure even by Big Finish’s standards.
I would have thought they’d have gone for something say like ‘The Champions’

My subscriber special of the new SFX arrived this afternoon, and covers the Timeslip revival. Victor Pemberton was one of the original writers and bought the rights in the 1990s with a view to relaunching the series, but it never happened. David Richardson has been trying to get it going for over ten years.

Rather taken aback how few of you are familiar with this show. It is very, very good. It was also quite hard to get hold of until the current box set was released, which was when I finally managed to get hold of it at a sensible price. In the early 90's when the stories were released as double vhs packs, TV Zone magazine reviewed them very favourably, comparing them in terms of intelligent drama to Dr Who of the time (season 7). Its obscurity as a cult series, seems to be influenced by the fact that only one of the 26 episodes survives in colour, so picture quality is somewhat grainy. Andydrewz has long been a fan of the series, and I understood from his blog, in 2016, that he made some contribution to the current box set with a mini episode being made. Naturally, Andrew Pixley produced a book accompanying the set. networkonair.com/all-products/2331-timeslip-the-complete-series networkonair.com/all-products/2331-timeslip-the-complete-series

I'm quite surprised so many people have never even heard of it. I don't think it I that niche even if you have only a passing interest in cult tv. I was too young to see it on original broadcast but I remember seeing it mentioned regularly in Tv Zone. When I eventually got to see it I was very impressed. It wasn't a show I was desperate to see get the audio treatment but I'm 90% sure I'll give it a try.

Agree with the surprise expressed by daver and the matt. I remember it coming up in tv zone back in the day and the coverage was positive enough to persuade me to buy the vhs.
I bought the recently released dvd and the extras are pretty good and the Andrew Pixley book is top notch.
Definitely recommended.

Interesting to see that the DVD has come down in price a little so I may treat myself this weekend. I saw the first episode on YT some time ago after being recommended and found it a little intriguing. I hope Big Finish do well with their update. As downloads become more popular I can this maybe being a little backdoor hit for them like Dorian Gray or the Originals range. It's a 'never say never' with me. Edited to add: Just treated myself to the DVD after all!!

I don’t know that this ever made it to America, and if it did, I certainly didn’t see it. I’m only aware of it through trawling through the TV box set section of amazon.uk. Sounds interesting.
