Now available to MR Subscribers with NO 259 Blood on Santa's Claw & Other Stories
A charming little story and Stephen Critchlow does a far more easy on the ear interpretation then the other fellow IMO)

Full disclosure, I kind of know Sophie. Facebook has made the world a weird place. We’re friends on there and we’ve contributed to some of the same anthologies and she produced a lovely Christmas gift for my wife as part of a commission, because she’s also a very talented artist in addition to her talent as a writer. I’m tremendously fond of her as a person (she’s my second favorite Doctor Who-affiliated Sophie), so I’m already favorably inclined towards her work.
Wow, such a lovely story! This kind of fable is exactly what I want from Doctor Who. It was vividly sketched, with the storm imagery running throughout. It was quiet and so well characterized. Kids are hard to write well, but Sophie gives her such an authentic voice, with all the longings and insecurities of childhood.
I enjoy character focused Short Trips and I enjoy the Doctor helping people. Specifically, my favorite thing of all is seeing the Doctor inspiring people, helping them by assisting them through the process of becoming the best version of themselves. (That’s what I see as the core of Ace’s relationship with the Seventh Doctor) This story strikes the perfect balance between the fantastic and the mundane and manages to bring them into the kind of harmony where the fantastic elements are exactly what make it relatable. Just loved everything about it.
And as an aside, I love the options to download Subscriber Short Trips directly to the Big Finish app.

My take on 'A Song for Running' is up at Cultbox, under the 'Blood on Santa's Claw' review. It's really rather good, IMHO.
