I can’t see them regenerating Macqueen into Jacobi, purely because the comic Master that regenerates into Jacobi already exists, and I can’t see them contradicting that when there’s nothing to gain and no story to tell from doing it. Especially after the lengths they went to in order to reconcile the Master’s post-TV movie timeline in Day of the Master. I don't see why not. Apart from the obvious (TV, Novel Adaptations, Comic Strip Adaptations, Big Finish stories have never been especially concerned about fitting into other media. As I said, I don’t see why they would do it when they’ve got little to gain from it. If they wanted to tell a story that hinged on Macqueen regenerating into Jacobi, then they’d have good reason but if it’s just a throwaway thing then why not leave it ambiguous? BF don’t bend over backwards to make everything fit, but they rarely retcon anything like that without good reason.

I’m disappointed Jacobi isn’t in the elaborate costume they designed for “Code Silver” abd did a photo shoot of him wearing. I agree. The cover of Cyber-Reality doesn’t do it justice. You can see it much better on the individual cover for Master of Worlds. The costume on the cover of Masterful even shows him wearing a very ordinary belt. I would expect the Master to at least have an elaborate belt buckle! (I am now pondering what exactly that buckle should look like...)

I'm excited for this. It's not quite the whole box and dice, though. I suppose trying to cram DelgadoMaster and DhawanMaster in there might have made for a very full story.
Anyone who might be voicing Ainley?

Also... Is there any way, either officially or conventionally, to refer to the various incarnations of The Master without referring to their principle actors? I mean we do have "Missy" and "O"...
For comparison, the 1st Doctor has been played mainly by Hartnell but also by Hurndall, Bradley and others, and because of the numbering system we don't have to refer to him as "The Hartnell Doctor". Is there any agreed upon numbering or reference system with regard to The Master?

Or you can go exclusively with aliases and call Delgado "Magister" or "Thascalos" - but Beevers didn't bother with disguises much IIRC (at least until after he'd been Tremas)... Numberwise, it's hard because Beevers, Tremas and Bruce are all probably the same incarnation! And if you call them by their first appearances, get two Utopia Masters!

I refer to him as "Hello you" given it's his favorite catchphrase.

It’s just occurred to me, taking only the synopsis into consideration you could probably theorise why some incarnations of the Master (the ones we know and the ones perhaps yet to come) are missing. They might have already been picked off by the thing that not even “the Masters can stop.”
That or their invitation got lost in a time eddy.

Given Jon Culshaw is reading two Short Trips for the Delgado & Ainley Masters, as part of Time Lord Victorious, I wonder if this tells us who will be voicing them for Masterful and the UNIT audiobook?

Jon Culshaw always seemed the most logical choice. I had convinced myself to pass on the special edition, but I think I will wait until I have listened to the Master short trips before I finally decide which version of Masterful to get. That is, of course, assuming it is Jon Culshaw performing.

This is pretty much what I use to differentiate them. Though for the Roberts version, I call him the Morphant Master, and the War Master for Jacobi's version (though Yana works too), but that's just personal preference. For the audio Masters, I go for First Master (although, Young Master is probably better, given that it's up for debate whether he's the first incarnation or not), Resurrected Master and Unbound Master.

The Renegade Master (Drefyus) The UNIT Enemy Master (Delgardo) The Crispy (or Undead) Master (Beevers) The Theatrical Master (Ainley) The American Master (Roberts) The Bald Master ( MacQueen) The Time War Master or The Professor Master (Jacobi)
The Prime Minster Master or Saxon Master (Simm) Missy or The Mistress Master (Gomez)

I always called Beevers the Reaper Master.

Is there a problem with just... referring to them by the actor's name? I always do that with Masters and Doctors (except Crispy I suppose)

Different actors can play the same Master. This will be the case in Masterful as "UNIT Master" and "Tremas Master" have been recast.

As predicted, the accompanying audiobook is narrated by Jon Culshaw.

Lovely jubbly, he’s a brilliant reader so looking forward to that. I don’t remember anything from Trevor Baxendale recently either, so that’s a welcome surprise.
Now we’ve got confirmation of this, I think that really does mean Jo and The Brig will be in the sixth War Master set then, based on the promise of a couple of old characters in the press release and Katy mentioning she had recorded with Derek Jacobi.

It’d be great if this connects to Masterful and this story is effectively what Delgado is doing while his other incarnations are wrapped up in the events of Masterful. I could totally see him being too wrapped up in his own grand scheme to join the others.

So does this mean we can expect Culshaw to be voicing Delgado? Or just doing the narration?
