Lost Property. What a nice change of pace. This was great, in part because it is so different from all previous 8th Doctor stories. Helen and Liv are great and it is interesting to see how they deal with every day issues. Trying to sort out bills, house repairs and tenant disputes. And of course for them to make new friends! Just putting them into this very unusual situation (for this franchise) feels new and refreshing. And yes, it gets VERY domestic. The 8th Doctor is distracted, Diskant and pretty grumpy- very well played by McGann. I always had a soft spot for grumpy 8. But I agree with everybody else- the best bit of this story was the Curator. This is exactly the way I had wished they would use him. And how great this turns out to be! He certainly appears to be some version of the Doctor, being quite cryptic but still supportive of Helen and Liv, which he seems to keep in good memory. Really enjoyed this one. Well worth the wait and price. And anyone who is on the fence and did not like the previous space operas- this comes across as a complete fresh start going not a different and unusual direction. This might just be your thing.

-Sacrilegious post alert-
Eh, that was fine, I guess? Individually I did enjoy every episode, but I don't know if I'm really 'sold' on this arc/series yet. It's fair, and (of course) no disrespect meant to anyone, but it came off as a little... 'Light' to me, mainly just setting there groundwork for the following three sets aaaaand, to some extent, maybe not too much else.
'Like I said, I at least enjoyed every episode (it'll be interesting to see if/how The Curator plays out. I got a lot of enjoyment out of the pre-credits of part 3 and, again, how that'll play out. The relationship's off to a sweet start, 'and so on') but yeah, sadly, not a favourite Eight release for me...

Can someone tell me if Jim and Midge have appeared in another audio? 8 talks to them as if they are frequent friends.

So I finished listening to Stranded and I have some thoughts. Individually, each story is at least good, the second is absolutely brilliant, but I'm having a trouble writing a review which is looking at each of them individually. Stranded, at least for me, feels more like a series of vignettes about these characters living in these circumstances. Yes there are still Doctor Who style plots, but it just seems more character focus while story is taking a backseat. It reminds me of the musical Company in a lot of ways. Both are ensemble affairs looking at ordinary life through the lens of an outsider (Bobby in Company is an outcast for not committing to marriage), both don't have an overall plot, but a series of scenes, and both are about modern life.

Well, I liked it! Glad to have just whooshed right through it one day. Cool blend of the domestic and the extraterrestrial - Liv and Tania worked well together - after six years of Liv in the TARDIS, it's nice to see new sides to her. I'm hoping we spend more time around Baker Street, even though the Doctor is already planning a test flight by the end of this set. All around, I'm looking forward to listening to this again when Stranded 2 comes out! Right now, arc-wise I'm assuming that the Doctor being stranded is what affects the future - he changes something minor, gives too much information to the wrong people (probably the Divine Intervention folks), and humanity grows so fast that they're two thousand years ahead of where they should be by the 41st century. Also Tom Baker was incredible and I hope his appearance is not a one-off!

I understood it that these two were aliens themselves (?) with some affiliation with UNIT and long time friends of the Doctor. As in, they know most of his past and future incarnations.
And no, I have not come across them in a BF audio before.

I agree concerning the narrative structure. I also think it is a nice breath of fresh air, this is a complete departure from the "universe in peril" we had right from the start. Only one story in and I am enjoying myself.
Curious on if and how they will be maintaining the tension and this structure throughout the whole arc.

Can someone tell me if Jim and Midge have appeared in another audio? 8 talks to them as if they are frequent friends. They’ve never appeared - they’re reference in Doom Coalition 3, Absent Friends and Matt’s two parter. The Doctor leaves part of the chronometer with them at the end of Absent Friends. But they don’t actually appear.

Just finished listening to Lost Property and Wild Animals.
I remember when Stranded was first announced and I wasn't sure at the time if they could do 4 boxsets of The Doctor stuck on earth like this but after these 2 episodes, I could happily see that happen. The stories have been really unique to anything done in Who before. Really enjoyed the slower pace of this episode than we've had recently. Not that I've disliked previous sets, its just nice for a change of pace. Was nice to have plenty of time to get to know each of the tenants. I hope if we are to get more Curator, then they use him similarly to in the first story. Keeping the mystery of him and have him manipulating events behind the scenes. In Episode 2, Having The Doctor trying to solve the crime as its the nearest thing to his usual life was brilliant. He just cannot settle into a normal human life. I'm really liking Tanya and Liv's relationship so far. That scene in the hospital was lovely and I loved Liv's reaction.
Overall, really enjoying this set so far. Its so fresh and new. Looking forward to listening to the next 2 stories.

Wild Animals. This was amazing. What a great story, everything comes together, the writing, the characters, the backdrop, the drama, the humor. It works perfectly as a fish out of water story for 8 and really plays with the contrast of what we are used to in the usual stories and what normal life is about. Yes, here we have a totally mundane story. No universe in peril. No alien monsters. And still, it had me totally captivated and engaged with the characters. I even felt for Liv‘s employer and his family. And for that poor old long suffering police officer.

Same here, it was probably Dorney's best "mundane" script since Absent Friends - my favorite Eighth Doctor episode btw - as far as I'm concerned. It felt so real to me and I just loved it to bits. {Spoiler} Liv's "is that it ?" reaction to Tania's confession was really beautiful and heartwarming.

I finished it and it was great. I agree with everything you are all saying. I have just one question....is the ENTIRE Davison family going to end up in Doctor Who?

It's always fun how John Dorney writes the Doctor as truly alien so Wild Animals was a nice contrast to that.

Will my not having listened to Ravenous 2-4 affect my understanding of this set do you think? I’m waiting for a sale on the Ravenous sets. From what I've heard so far, not at all. I wouldn't rush to get Ravenous just for this

I originally wasn't going to get this until next year because of the long wait but then I got a preorder for my birthday and am so happy I didn't wait. It was so great to have a different type of Doctor Who story in this and the next nine months are gonna be torture. There was no real highlight to the set for me, but that's because it was consistently good, episode 3 was probably the weakest but that's likely because it was setting up stuff for later down the line and when the full series is out I'll appreciate it more. {Spoiler-Episode 3}I wonder if Torchwood's involvement will someone tie into the ongoing Torchwood range because Torchwood seems to be in a completely different place to where it left off in season 6. Worst case scenario the Stranded writers were given free rein with Torchwood because the ongoing box set seasons are cancelled, but I really hope that's not the case. Either way, at least we'll get some sort of current Torchwood series through Stranded.

Just finished the set. I thought Must-See TV was the weakest of the set. It’s not bad, but there’s a lot of build up for the following episode and what is presumably going to be the overriding arc and not much substance for the other vignettes, so it ends up feeling slightly hollow.
Divine Intervention was good. I loved the opening scenes with the Doctor on the gameshow (if only they could’ve got Bradley Walsh in for a cameo!) and the Baker Street gang watching him on telly. Again, it seems to be laying down the ground for the future more than anything else.
I think the first half of the set is distinctly better than the second, but it’s all such a breath of fresh air. I feel less fatigued by this TARDIS team and I love how they all handle being stranded differently and their interaction with the supporting cast. Tania is brilliant and I’m looking forward to seeing where we go next; I hope they spend more time on Baker Street as that’s where the heart of the story is and why I feel this is a refreshing change.
