Now I just want to know who the most sarcastic character between Colchester and Liv is.

Just one next year, and three in 2021, I wonder if there were scheduling issues? It may mean that some other 8th Doctor releases will turn up in 2020. Another Lucie set?
But we are also getting the Time War 4 in 2020, so there will be at least two McGann box sets in the coming year.

I donāt want to seem a Grinch so close to Christmas, especially after reading so many posts of excitement, so I decided to āsleep on itā.
Unfortunately I still feel the same.
I liked the big epic Eighth Doctor series that we have been treated to over the last few years, however I understand the need to do something different, but I love Doctor Who when it is escapist fun. If I wanted domestic Iād watch a soap or a sitcom.
Nothing in this announcement excites me. The modern 2020 setting, the introduction of a character from Torchwood, which I do not follow. Those domestic tensions. Nothing.
I will have to wait and see what else comes to light about this series, but for the first time with a Big Finish Eighth Doctor release it is no pre-order from me.

I am pretty sure there will be another angle to the whole thing.
As I write above, yes, I have wished for some domestic banter and a less frantic pace for this team for a while, however, if we are honest-
There might be only so much they can do with this setting that has not been done before. Yes, it is great for a change, but it could also become pretty samey without intergalactic chase sequences.
Otherwise, we might re-tread stories we had before, like the Doctor trapped and bitter and snapping at his companions (Scherzo, Ship in a Bottle), alien living in a flat with humans (how many TV series were made about this topic already? Plus, the Lodger), thin-veiled social commentary from the eyes of an alien observer and of course the Third Doctor era. This is why I am pretty sure there will be another point to this and it will be revealed closer to release.
If they handle this right, and I am quite confident, they could turn this into an updated version of the Third Doctor era (trying to avoid the pitfalls). OMG, we might even get a visit from Jo Jones!!!! Hmm. This might have become top item on my wish-list now.

What on Earth is "Steak and Kidney pudding"? Steak and kidney pie is already one of the vilest things on this planet (I hate kidneys) and I shudder at the thought there might also be a pudding.

Ratatouille? Don't forget to 'put a lot of basil in it', Mr Dorney.
{Spoiler} Fawlty Towers, of course. 'He put "Basil" in the ratatouille??! Aaargh!'
'Stranded' sounds increasingly like the series which could do anything. And fun. There's only one way to find out...

As someone who has yet to experience The Eighth Doctor Adventures beyond 'To The Death' I'm intrigued by the idea of 'Stranded' being a jumping on point for new (ish) listeners, so will be watching upcoming announcements with interest.
That being said, if the Doctor and company are going to be stranded on Earth for a while I do have a bit of a wish list for what might be coming down the road - and topping it would be appearances by UNIT members old and new during the 50th anniversary year of UNIT's TV debut (and if Big Finish aren't thinking of ways of getting a certain Ruth Matheson and Charlie Sato into the mix during the 25th anniversary year of the TV movie then I am going to be soooooo disappointed).
Lots of delicious possibilities where this series could go. Looking forward to finding out exactly where that will be. š

I'm curious if it is set in our 2020 with Brexit, Johnson and Trump or some alternative Doctor Who 2020.

I think, with 50 years of the Third Doctor in 2020, is Stranded Big Finish's love letter to the 3rd doctor's exile?

Surprisingly, I feel the same way. I should be thrilled by this. I LOVE Eight, I enjoy Liv and Helen and the fact that they are doing something so different with the range should please me no end. But this does not grab me. Stranded on Earth...meh. I don't know. I will end up getting, listening, and hopefully loving it, but I'm not jumping up to pre-order. It might just be my mood these days. Trying to cut back and save some money, so I'm not pre-ordering as much.

Like you I am sure I will get this...eventually. It feels strange not pre-ordering at the earliest opportunity. During the speculation period on this site I was happy with the concept and could see how it could be interesting. So in a way it is even more of a surprise that the official announcement has left me feeling so cold.
