Product pages now up for Doctor Who: Stranded Volumes 1-4 alongside story titles and some cast details for Volume 1... including the return of Sgt. Andy Davidson!
The TARDIS is gone. Stranded in one time and place, the Doctor, Liv and Helen seek refuge in Baker Street. But the house has changed: they now have neighbours – not all of them welcoming. And someone has a dire warning for the future.
The Doctor and friends face their greatest challenge yet: living one day after another, in 2020 London.
If there was only one BF I could buy in 2020 this was going to be it. And now Sgt Andy? I know technically it can't go any higher than the top of the list, but it deserves to!
Well I did not see Andy Davison coming into the Eighth Doctor Adventures (does that make him the first Torchwood character to cross over into another Big Finish range).
I think I’ll wait for more details, but it’s sounding promising.
If they're going to be stranded in 2020 UK, and Andy is going to appear, I wonder whether that means we can anticipate some Torchwood / Eighth Doctor (Adventures) crossovers down the line. Maybe Colchester is in London for somethingorother and turns up for an episode or two of Stranded, or the Torchwood monthly range does an Odd Couple-type episode with Helen and Ng, things like that.

Despite the unquestioned brilliance of the regulars, I have long since found myself not picking up the 8DAs. The Time War stuff and the box-sets didn't appeal to me as much as what was happening with other Doctors. So, for me, this is exactly what the Eight Doctor series needed. I'm glad Liv and Helen are being retained, and I like that Andy is featuring too (although I notice only Paul McGann is listed in the cast for subsequent volumes for now ...). I greatly look forward to this!

Paul McGann being the only credited actor is entirely normal, it's always been like this.
Any Eighth Doctor stuff is an instant pre-order for me, but I'm a little indifferent over the fact that it's modern day London (it's pretty much the default/generic location for a lot of DW stories so it's not too exciting to me) and I kinda wish they'd shake up the format instead of stretching the arc over 4 boxsets, but other than that I'm totally on board. In fact, having Andy involved has me doubly excited!
This is a cool idea and I'm genuinely pleased to see David K Barnes' name on the writing credits. I stopped following the Eighth Doctor after Doom Coalition I but will be curious to see how this received (and hopefully check it out at some point).
Saw the photo on the BF news item. It's not news, but really - Paul McGann is unreasonably handsome.
My first thought: Now it's official- we are getting a Doctor Who Sitcom. And, as weird as it sounds, I cannot wait. Only thing I can imagine is some kind of Big Bang mash-up with the Doctor in the role of Sheldon...
I just hope, this being timed in the year 2020, it won't devolve into a real-time comment on Brexit. Please.
So on the plus- I have for a long time wished for some domestic episodes of the Doctor and his team, lots of banter over the washing-up so to speak. So this is certainly what I had wished for.
On the more meh side- Earth, again. The present, again. I would have hoped for the future and maybe some hitchhiking on some alien cargo ships. No, we are stuck on Earth again. Well, on the plus side- there is lots of scope for real-time social commentary on what is happening right now (Climate change, Brexit, ...). However, on the negative side, there is lots of scope for real-time social commentary on what is happening right now (as above). We will see how this turns out...
Also cool we (could potentially, as far as I see it is not confirmed, just the actor is in it) get the fun Torchwood character along for the ride. Maybe even becoming a male companion? I am also curious if we will get cross-overs with other present day ranges like UNIT and Torchwood. Should be interesting. Maybe, and this is more cloud and dream territory- a cameo from the current TV crew?
Bring it on.
