I gave this a listen during a trying time and really need to go back as I felt underwhelmed by it all as a major release it should have left me gagging for more...But now am in a better place I will give it another shot but by end of it I have always loved Liv but I felt man I wanted rid of her and be left with Helen alone after just doing three episodes of Bernice new box set I don’t think it mattered what mind set I was in the dialogue especially in Inertia was sparklingly good and invigorating and somehow I needed a bit of that in Stranded at the time.. Heres to a second listen 👍

Just finished the set. What more can I say? This was brilliant. Interesting characters, unusual plot and great performances make this come together wonderfully. The only major downside I can see is the long wait for the next set. What I also find quite clever- there is an inbuilt thread in this story that maybe makes it possible that this happens in an alternate 2020- which would explain the (welcome and appreciated) absence of a certain virus. Thank God for small mercies. The Doctor is cooped up too much already, even with free reign of all of London, just imagine him under quarantine conditions. There could well have been fatalities. And the arguements he would get into with even more police officers. Talking about police officers- I also thought that Andy was very well used here, and he even has some adventurous 1 on 1 time with the Doctor. Looking forward to hearing more from him! I also wonder how the house community will deal with the revelations from the ending of the last story- team Tardis certainly has an awful lot of explaining to do! How will they look at their confused and slightly useless landlord now? Bring on the next set! Well I deffo need to give it a relisten as that’s pretty glowing report and knowing I wanted something less Universe saving post Ravenous I wonder why it just did not hook me at all but I suppose if I remember correctly Ravenous 1 wasn’t particularly my favourite at time of release either 😎

It is very cosy small scale. I like it because it is different and a change of pace.
And it was well performed and had some very nice new characters in there.
I am pretty sure the scope will open up in the next set- it will be quite interesting to see how the tenants at the house will deal with the fact they have an alien landlord.
Yeah, Ravenous 1 was not really the most exciting, either (however, it had a few really great scenes), and see where that one got. Ravenous 4 was mind-blowing.

Well i have revisited the first two episodes and after The Time war 4 first story ... its a BIT OF A RELIEF . Should i just not listen to stuff when they are first released i wonder. But yeah this is and not that i watch it anymore but this is Eastenders Doctor Who style-I do not get but i heard it on the forum mentioned Livs love for Helen i never got that vibe and the relationship with Tanya am not getting either ,i havent got to the Torchwood element yet though i remember it from the first listen (am no fan as many of you know anyway am not saying they arent great audios as am sure they really are but....am not going there. God Bless The Multiverse 🤪). I totally Love Helen from her first story and from her Missy episodes it is so good to have such a HUMAN character almost contemporary.

Lost Property-Matt Fitton
Revisiting this box set again in order to engage in it again as I hate not getting into something or even being enthused by the hard work that goes into these productions. having no pressing concerns and worries are at the doorstep. There is nothing like a lockdown and no jumping here and there to let you sit back and appreciate or try to appreciate something. Now first thing that has struck me is Tom Baker who is playing something more than I previously thought from listening. There are quite a lot of characters to come to terms with in the opener .Now after recently relistening to McGann in Relative Dimensions what happened to the UNIT salary for being scientific adviser had he spent it all? I like the nods to the past about the house and Thomas Brewster.I still do not buy the Tania/LIV relationship which I know is coming and very much love that despite having a home the Doctor and his companions are homeless/displaced. Definitely liking the mystery of The Curator this time around less gimmick and honouring his mystery.Love Helen joking about 221B with him (probably thinking he is a wee bit unhinged).Helen gets to be the voice of reason as she usually is taking charge of the household and making sense of life.
well thankfully my brain is finally engaging with what is going on but I think I am used to the characters from various other listens whereas first time around it felt like a bombardment of characters all at once. Can I say and I do not think am wrong at all,Helen just totally works as a companion for me,Her interaction with Tom is beautiful, she has feelings, curious it’s,concern without Livs Jaded cynicism and she can keep a secret. Her final lines lovely way to end the first part Tania if you just take it from the first episode is suspect even if I know now she belongs to yeuch Torchwood.Well to be honest I actually enjoyed this for the first time.

Wild Animals-John Dorney
How many listens has it taken for me to engage this is the fourth but am glad that I persevered with it (also for the restrictions to local area-know how they all feel) There is a lot of quite fun stuff going on LIV working in a shop and them just settling down to food at a table, the very fact of common humanity that someone finds LIV a job (does she pay tax one wonders) The Doctors very palpable loss of his Tardis ,his security blanket. What does it really mean to be The Doctor,to be his companions and the gentle feeling of each of their concerns for the other did I miss it?why didn’t he go get his old job back at UNIT? Again little things Helen being shown apps and her amazement and wonder at smart phones-guess when you are old like me you can look back and not take them for granted. i am not getting the Tania/LIV angle still but I guess being attacked by every monstrosity the universe could throw at her she hasn’t had any real time to even to think of a relationship with anyone at all,so it’s kind of welcome in a way that they have actually relaxed.
How do you adjust to life? When the universe isn’t your highway.Helen is the nurturer and somehow I feel she will have a tragic end when she travels with the Doctor her ability to be empathic kind and caring will be the Death of her am sure... I may cry.
Threats can be universal and they can be localised. This story brings out that aspect a blast from a Dalek is no less destructive than a bullet during a robbery except LIV and Helen have actually had time to relate to these people ,live with them work with them, socialise with them, laugh with them-the effect has to be much much worse on them than the many deaths they have so far experienced on their travels
Given I know from future stories the development of LIV and Tania the relisten adds a more sinister element to Tania questioning she obviously knows of the Doctor and no doubt that there is no romantic element in his relationships, well on his/her part.I cannot see this relationship ending well 😂😂😜

Listened to this after 6 months of it sitting on my shelf
I don't really havemuch to add to the emerging consensus above.
On the one hand I agree with the welcome change of pace / breath of fresh air comments and I agree also that the plots of the 4 episodes were a tad underwhelming.
But overall I liked it - a change is as good as a rest. But I hope they move it on a bit - 4 box sets of kitchen sink drama may be a bit too much . . .
The references to timeline changes intrigued me. I wonder if they will use this in a later box set to explain/retcon wny there is no covid lockdown in the Whoniverse's version of 2020?

Stranded1-Must- See TV-Lisa McMullin
So NOT being a Torchwood man at all and pretty much ignoring when I can I have to take it that this is a Newly formed Torchwood where the Doctor is not Public Enemy number one-I get that the way Tania skirts around it so as not to interrupt the Timeline.Mr Bird-now you see him now you don’t and I like how the residents are beginning to question who our trio.Am not particularly agree with a relationship based on “ask no questions tell no lies” that sounds like a real recipe for disaster which is probably why their preform meal was so revolting it does have a good ending though if a little abrupt.

Divine Intervention-David K Barnes
On my original listen I didn’t like the Idea of The Doctor on a quiz show and to be honest I still feel that way.It is very very high profile would he really do that?Really? I could see him concocting something but for all his enemies that must be around in the 21st century to go on national TV it seems out of character...spots on you tube local celebrity in papers.I didn’t buy it and still don’t.Like I said if Unit still existed why not take up a job with them .I mean it was the Most Popular Quiz show on television and even more stupidly he plans to go back on all the other weeks so he can fund a tech company...it sounds daft and it is daft
I may have totally missed something as he does mention UNIT a few tImes?Have they disbanded by now?* did a bit of online searching lol-and found a review with someone who doesn’t like Torchwood either 😂😂😂apparently they are defunded now(well at least I will have another listen for that bit next time) Feel free to correct me.Something else is bothering me it is almost as if the Doctor relishes Alien invasions ,wants.them is he now an adrenaline junkie?? Yes Torchwood has an agenda and to be honest am not interested in them and it was a major letdown for me for them to be included Please Mr Dorney and Mr Fitton please please have mercy-No Jack. why the total sidelining of Mr Bird?It would make more sense for him to be looking into someone who could invade his home so easily than to go on a quiz show.
I like that LIV vocalises that they are never around long enough...human moment, but for a woman naturally suspicious and with good reason she just suddenly lets down her guard to someone obviously keeping secrets ...nah don’t buy it.(thank goodness Nicola at least tries to explain just why in the extras )
I like Helen job hunting with her possible criminal record and youthful appearance 😉.All in all it was definitely more relaxed listen this time but I think I may have just been overloaded in part 1 of far too many characters all at once I think also I would have preferred more Helen with McGann than Andy(hopefully we got a good character from the series).Since we have all the spoiler avoidance of Torchwood getting mentioned when the Doctor walks in a room (why include them at all?) But hey I give it top marks For having No Daleks in it 😂😂 Lets be honest you go on national tv for a quiz winning tonnes of cash time travelling Aliens concerned for their future are the least of your worries-the taxman is coming.
Of course I will be tuning in for the second box set as am sure there is an interesting mystery forming changing timelines, alien peeping tomsThe Curators role,is this perhaps a more lethal Torchwood that wishes to set up a galaxy wide empire that ends up enslaving other races (Divine Intervention?)I know Torchwood does exist in the future as there is a Torchwood archive in Impossible planet ,well at least am asking questions now because I definitely was just asking why am I not getting this set ,when I first listened. Do I get points for at least persevering lol?
