I find even in the grim/scary/etc stories, Andy still comes off as just delightful comic relief every time. I can't wait to see how he bounces off Liv either, tuigirl I agree. He contrasts wonderfully with some of the grimmer elements. I feel like other characters from the TW team would become melancholic to suit the story but Andy's upbeat attitudes, even when he's faced with some horrible stuff. Oddly it was when he was framed as being a right-wing nutjob that freaked me out the most, more than the supernatural things he's experienced. He keeps his almost Gavin & Stacey like Welshness, just pushing through and making do. It's Arthur Dent like, in places. Same here. I was horrified by it. Not Andy!!! I'm also not thrilled with how his relationship with Yvonne is turning out. It was a laugh at first, but now it really feels wrong.

I love his relationship with Yvonne, it feels like the right direction for both characters, especially Yvonne. He keeps her human.

This may have already been discussed, but I just noticed that Stranded is listed under the Collections tab, a place not similarly held by any other box-set series. A mistake? A hint of something?

not strange but am anticipating these stories more than Things like Any of the Time War Sagas- I don’t know about Andy from Torchwood and will accept the character though won’t be buying into the Torchwood range and really hope that’s as far as it goes with cross overs of characters.I know including characters from other ranges helps to generate interest in other ranges and hence more revenue but I find it vaguely annoying. The Doctor a figure of mystery has become someone that EVERYONE knows. I kick myself that they ruined the Matt Smith memory wipe of the Daleks as I would have memory wiped the universe hahah.
but after the epics of recent years this shall be an interesting release and I hope I look forward to it as much as I look forward to the Third Doctor Adventures. the writers of the set all write great tales, Lisa and David being the newer editions to the fold should keep it fresh and am sure exciting and they have already proved themselves in other ranges.
So Roll on July 😎

As for Stranded I am waiting for more information...it’s still a long way away, so there is plenty of time for my excitement level regarding this release to rise. I loved the epic-ness of the Eighth Doctor boxsets, but can understand the creators and the audience wanting something different. The Eighth Doctor Time War series has been the poor relation, but perhaps with all the build up coming this year it could surpass expectations and perhaps become something epic!

I am not keeping my hopes up with the 8th Doctor Time War. There were a couple of good stories, but as a whole it never reached the level of the other 8th Doctor material or even the other Time War releases. There is certainly something missing. Is it a lack of epicness? I do not really know. I also hope for the best with Stranded and would also be happy with 4 stand alone stories which are only loosely connected. Just to have a bit of a change and give the characters and the audience a chance to catch their breath. Maybe this year, the best and most epic stories will be the ones featuring the 8th Doctor outside his own ranges? At least for the Time War, these were best. McGanns performance in Lies in Ruins is chilling to the bone. Just imagine what they could do with him and Susan.

Am not sure at all about the Susan set something tells me its just more of the same it would have been more fun adding her to the 8th Doctor Time war set and getting rid of Bliss or with Bliss , But will wait and see what happens. With The Stranded set I will withhold judgement on the Andy Character.I am sure they will gradually build up to a finale/threat across the four box sets but am not wanting recurring foes such as Masters or Daleks or Cybermen Silurians how about Androgums miss out the common teams the Units the Torchwood and even my faves the Countermeasure teams No Rivers(she’s proving she can stand without him currently) and bring in new acting talent(cheaper lol) I mean 2020 is a thrilling and dangerous era too there’s plenty of threats and none of them alien.Has MCGann apart from Chimes had a real Ghostly tale? There is a lot of fun to be had with this TEAM,Helens place on the planet should be interesting and Give Liv another Boyfriend. The Doctors instant travel restrictions should try his patience and frustrate him.Frustrate him More lol.

A proper ghost story would certainly peak my curiosity. As would plenty of other ideas. I was just wondering if you could do a modern “Around the World in 80 days” style adventure with these characters. I keep telling myself there must be more to Stranded than domestic tensions and trying to get on with their neighbours. Even if those neighbours turn out to be aliens.

Well am all for individual self contained stories but definitely confining it to 2020 Earth is definitely going to be interesting when they could have STRANDED them anywhere in the universe with Empire Galaxy stretching transport links.

I am fine with a lot, really. I just really hope they do not turn this into a running commentary on Brexit. That is all.

And it is one thing to have Sixie and him together for a fun romp, I just cannot really see him working well opposite 8.

I honestly have no idea how we could. Just to give you an idea, when we storylining this, Teresa May was still Prime Minister. So the idea of trying to be ‘topical’ is broadly insane.
