God I really hope they don’t shoehorn in another ‘lost incarnation.’ For me that’s a story conceit that can only work once without feeling ridiculous. Yeah I'd really rather she be the NEXT Doctor, the more I think about it. Jodie saves the Time Lords, but erases her memory of her entire incarnation in some noble sacrifice.

Not sure if that would sit right, the first female doctor effectively erasing herself from the show!

Not sure if that would sir right, the first female doctor effectively erasing herself from the show! Erases her OWN memory - not erasing her timeline or anything - and Jo Martin or a later Doctor could just get it back (she's already run into herself after all). Part of my affinity for this is I've always wanted a Next Doctor story played completely straight - not a fake, not a lost incarnation, just the Honest to God Real Next Doctor Along.

I can hear it now: “ha ha, the first female Doctor is erased” vs. “hey at least she DID SOMETHING to save her people, Matt Smith just sat around on a Christmas planet!”

I know you meant her OWN memory. But as I said it's effectively erasing herself from the show.

After his shower. He should have kept the towel & shower cap look! Random thought that suddenly struck me: are 3 and 11 the only Doctors with shower scenes?😄🚿 As far as I know. However, there are a few others I would not mind seeing...

I'm genuinely surprised by how many people have enjoyed that last episode. I suspected Twitter would have exploded when learning about the first female AND coloured Doctor considering the reaction when Jodie was first announced in 2017, so I'm glad people are just excited again about what's to come. I would like to echo these comments. We all know the kind of shrill hysterics that went down with certain, more toxic elements of Doctor Who fandom when Jodie Whittaker was cast. So to have another female Doctor and for it to be a female of color introduced, the meltdown kind of reactions have been much more muted. It is an interesting discussion as to why. Personally I think that between the Master becoming Missy and the introduction of 13 in the TARDIS, this Doctor isn't the first one being a non-white male and not even the first gender swap with a character with 50 years of history. Also the way it was done. With no warning and done mid-episode. It was BOOM, here she is. Yes she is a Time-Lord and yes, she is The Doctor. Matter-of-fact. No build-up. No expectations placed on her. Just her and 13 in her very retro-TARDIS. Oh and it was a cracking good story as well. Anyway, it was something I'd noticed and wanted to comment on but you beat me to it. So well done Doctor Who fans!

Casting Jo was pure genius on the production team's part. Think of the overwhelming number of rambling angry YouTube vlogs and extensive thought-pieces that would have all been tediously weighing in on casting expectations once Jodie announces she was leaving ("The next Doctor better be / BETTER NOT BE") ... Chibnall just stole their thunder!

Well this is one twist I doubt even Chibnall saw coming... WHAT!! Edit Faked I think Regards mark687 I just looked on Facebook and it seems to be real (also apparently someone I met at university is a friend of his on Facebook? Small world). In fairness, on the 13 January he called Orphan 55 ‘utterly excruciating’ and called for Chibnall to be fired, which is more on brand.

Well this is one twist I doubt even Chibnall saw coming... Put me in the 'I think it's fake' camp ... although it could also be the medication, so you never know? However it does seem highly unlikely based on custom and practice!

So that has to be one of the signs of the impending apocalypse. Time to move into the lead-lined bunker.

I thought and hoped this silly goof had retired from Doctor Who commentary. He's the same as every other internet poutrage 'fan': "This is the WORST THING EVER, Hitler himself would be ashamed! Read my 10,000 word screed on why I don't care, and I will never watch again!" *is watching again the very next week*
