Hello again. Welcome to the Divergent Universe Fetchinghat. I love the username. What sort of fetching hat is it? Yes, there are a great group of people on this forum with interests in all sorts of areas. All the very best for the competition. It is a great way to remember an important part of the Big Finish team. I hope you enjoy posting on the forum and look forward to hearing about your ideas when you feel the time is right to share and discuss them. Take care and keep writing! Thank you for the warm welcome. I'm not sure where the name came from. A while back I was spitballing for a name that sounded vaguely like it could be a Youtube channel. My go-to forum name is feeling stale so I'll use this opportunity to revamp my image. Given the situation, I'm gonna say it represents a fez. I noticed there weren't many people uploading their pitches in retrospect. It's a shame, but understandable. I'll be happy to share my submission after the winner is announced (if I'm allowed) and I'd love to read some other pitches too.Welcome to the forum, fetchinghat! I've good news. Some of them are available in perhaps a bit more unusual places. We've a group of writers called Divergent Wordsmiths and, recently, we pulled together the Paul Spragg ReCollections. A short story anthology featuring work submitted for previous years' Paul Spragg, but not selected. So you can read not only the pitches in the Appendix, but the completed stories that stemmed from them. It's available from the website here.

I didn't know about that, thanks Wolfie. I'll definitely give that a read.

Sent off my entry today. I felt able to enter the competition for the first time this year, I’ve wanted to every year but could never come up with an idea I think I could win. I found it a really enjoyable process. Obviously there’s a slim chance I might win, but I’ve enjoyed it nonetheless. It also features my very favourite BF TARDIS duo.

An excellent writing tip from the amazing Jonathan Morris himself! Just glanced at my Doctor Who shelves and realised that this is the same Jonathan Morris who wrote "Touched By An Angel," which is a brilliant Eleventh Doctor novel. All the more reason to listen to his advice!

All the more reason to listen to his advice! He has written some of my absolute favourite audios including The Waters of Amsterdam, The Curse of Davros, and also the Novel Adaptation of RTD's Damaged Goods. Might as well sneak in a little tribute to him in my entry.

Hello again.
Well, this year I actually have an idea! I literally couldn't think of anything last year. So I enjoyed watching others constructing and submitting their stories and waiting for Alfie and Rob Shearman to pick them.
I remembered my feelings of excitement in 2016. For the first time in twenty years I had written something. Obviously, I didn't win, that honour went to Joshua Wanisko and his story Forever Fallen.
However, it caused a spark that led to the completion of one of the stories which was accepted by A Teaspoon and an Open Mind.
Last year, I submitted 'The Phoenix' to the Divergent Wordsmiths. After some judicious editing from Wolfie, it was published online in Paul Spragg ReCollections anthology.
To anyone thinking of writing for this year's opportunity I say, give it a whirl. Writing is a wonderful way of expressing your thoughts and feelings. To anyone currently poring studiously over every word in their pitch, all my very best wishes.
Take care and keep writing!

Very well put, doctorkernow. I'm still giving it another shot this year, despite not fully priorisiting over the last few weeks, but certainly not expecting to win. Since you've mentioned The Paul Spragg ReCollections, I couldn't be proud enough to have read all your entries as co-editor. Hopefully we'll get to do a second volume and open the submissions window to a wider audience (via social media), once we get other projects out of the way. And by the way, what's the title of your entry submitted to A Teaspoon and an Open Mind?

Just one quick question... did any of you add your email addresses to your entries before submitting (PDF or Word doc)?

Hello again.
Thank you Drama Man for your kind words. The story I submitted to Teaspoon and a Open Mind was the first one I wrote 'The Phoenix' which I took down when I submitted it to the ReCollections anthology. It would have been part of a quartet of stories featuring the Sixth Doctor and the redoubtable Mrs Margaret Fieldhouse BEd Exon. One day I'll get round to writing the others, one day...
Yes, I'm looking forward to seeing see authors and stories in future anthologies published by Divergent Wordsmiths. I don't know about whether you write the email address on the entry I'm afraid. Hope you manage to get your story in on time, I've still got a way to go before it makes any sense! Best wishes.

I would certainly love to read the entire quartet featuring Six and Margaret Fieldhouse.

I put mine in the header of each page, Drama Man. Word doc or PDF? I prefer PDF since that avoids the (very small) chance that there will be some incompatibility between Word versions that will make it look wonky.

Turned my scratchpad notes into a rough synopsis today - pretty happy with how it's shaping up this year!
Also... What TARDIS teams are starring in everyone's stories this time around?! (Mine's First/Vicki/Steven)

Hello all, I love how supportive and helpful everyone is. I stumbled across this forum whilst researching for my entry into the Paul Spragg ST competition. I know there will be lots of people entering but it is great fun and a an even greater opportunity for someone.
I have started my story but am a little concerned that it may not be exciting enough - very much about the doctor and one other character, but no monsters - although there is some nice trippy time travel stuff.
