For those who cherry-pick Torchwood but are completists (just addressing completists ok 😁), consider getting the 1-24 or any of the bundles during a sale to save a bit of money (if in the end you feel compelled to get everything anyway). Not as much savings as before the international currency adjustment though. & this is entirely your choice.
TW bundles 1-6, 1-12, 1-18, 1-24, 7-12, 13-18, 13-24, 19-24
Many different bundles to choose from. During sales, the discounts are significant. Of course the lowest per release is the 1-24 bundle (I got mine for US $84 @ $3.50 each, 24 stories). It has a good & varied selection of characters & plots & first appearances in audio.
This is not meant to be an in depth review of the bundle, more of…just to illustrate that at sale bundle price, it’s sorta kinda worth it? For that low per volume price, a few audios you end up not liking, still average out cheaper?
Although, for those who balk at the $84 sale bundle price (it’s only this price during sales, during normal times it’s higher) feel free to follow recommendations & get Fall to Earth, and or stories of characters, plots you like. I had no regrets though, saving it for next to last & getting it in one go. 🙂
1 The Conspiracy (Jack) starts off the Monthly Range with backstory on the Committee. After I got everything, I decided to listen to everything in release date order, so started here.
2 Fall to Earth (Ianto) Zeynep (Lisa Zahra) Awesome story! & the supporting character is so good, she’s on my Fantasy Releases wishlist for future roles.
3 Forgotten Lives (Gwen & Rhys) an interesting story. They have good chemistry.
4 One Rule (Yvonne) I like all Yvonne stories so not exactly impartial.
5 Uncanny Valley (Jack) the plot is compelling.
6 More Than This (Gwen) Andy is also here, though not the main costar. Sparks fly when Torchwood members go up against local officials. Similar in spirit to Yvonne’s “The 5 People You Kill…”
7 The Victorian Age (Jack & Queen Victoria) I love the TW Victorian music. & Queen Victoria has her character flaws but I like her stories & I like Rowena Cooper.
8 Zone 10 (Tosh) liked this mystery story.
Timey-whimey
9 Ghost Mission ( Andy & Norton) people say this is a must listen if you want to start with Andy & Norton. Entertaining.
10 Moving Target (Suzie) I like that the audios redeem? Suzie
11 Broken (Jack & Ianto) a deep psychological story. Very good.
12 Made You Look (Gwen & Rhys) Gwen against a formidable foe.
13 Visiting Hours (Rhys) Brenda mom (Nerys Hughes) I adore Rhys & his mom dynamic. & I liked Nerys Hughes in Kinda (Dr. Who season 19)
14 The Dollhouse (even though this might negatively impact opinions on my taste & judgement…I liked it. Lol) but it’s on many people’s “do not buy” list though. Well, I got it in a bundle, might as well listen to it since it had no triggers for me.
15 Corpse Day (Owen & Andy) will skip because of trigger warnings
16 torchwood_cascade_CDRip.tor (Tosh) so far I like all Tosh audios I’ve listened to, including Suckers
17 The Office of Never Was (Ianto) all Ianto stories in this bundle are good, if not great & awesome & must listens?
18 The Dying Room (Herr Grau - Mark Elstob) haven’t listened yet
19 The Death of Captain Jack (Jack, John, Norton, Queen Victoria, Ianto, Gwen, Rhys, Andy) Jack & John do stuff
20 The Last Beacon (Owen & Ianto) hilarious. I recommend.
21 We Always Get Out Alive (Gwen & Rhys) haven’t listened yet
22 Goodbye Piccadilly (Norton & Andy) I take Norton in small doses, but I recall being entertained by this story
23 Instant Karma (Tosh) haven’t listened yet
24 Deadbeat Escape (Billis Manger) I’m happy that the first 24 included Billis. This is the first of his many fantastic audios in TW MR.
Other listeners may or may not agree with me, since everyones’ tastes & tolerances & opinions vary, feel free to chime in.
