"... I am not the Doctor- but I am a fan of her work.." OOH I am actually surprised that Big Finish could legally do that in all honesty i mean considering the license goes up to Twice Upon a time

It’s not explicit so is probably fine. They’ve done it before with The Kingmaker’s bloke in a leather jacket.

I enjoyed The Lumiat. It's a bit of a farce on the face of it, but there's some heart and it pushes Missy that little bit closer to her Series 10 persona. I'm wondering if there'll be a subtle arc across her sets that lead up to Extremis, much like The War Master range did for Utopia.
Michelle Gomez sounds like she's having a ball and Gina McKee makes for a good foil; I'm sure it won't be the last we hear from her.

Just finished The Lumiat. Wow, this was great! Really fun comedy and what a great idea. I agree with Shallacatop that it gets a bit meta on the farce, but it is just so well done! I wonder if we will see more of the Lumiat? I certainly would not mind. This story also settles the question from another thread- what would the Master do with a companion?

I can't say I was a massive fan of Brimstone and Terror.
It spends 55 minutes building up to a closing 5 minutes that doesn't really do much or feel satisfactory. It's nice to hear more from the Davis' and it's great that the story is a proper sequel, but it could've been much better. Strax feels wasted and the story goes nowhere.

For me, The Lumiat was probably the strongest of the set. I don’t think the set as a whole was as good as the first one, but it was still a lot of fun and I’m excited for the next one. Too Many Masters wasn’t what I was expecting honestly, but it was still a fun story and I won’t complain about more Rufus Hound.

It took a while for me to really get into The Lumiat. Once the cards were put on the table about who McKee’s character is, the story picked up. There’s some nice exploration of the morality of Missy here too, and I’d be happy to hear more of the dynamic here.

Listened to the first two stories and liked them both. I think I really liked Brimstone and Terror more for its farcical nature. It also might just be seeing Michelle Gomez works better in a position of authority.

I on,y just started the first story and am halfway through, but I've got a question... is there some kind of official or unofficial rule on when spoilers are allowed? I've noticed that several of the other threads say, "spoilers begin on page X), so I'm wondering if that's the result of thread discussion pre/post release or if there's a grace period?
So, anyway, I'll try to avoid spoilers and keep it simple.
Was the Lumiat's original body destroyed or duplicated? Part of it made it sound like she simply killed her "good parts," another that the good and bad halves were split into two beings and forcing a regeneration. Which, uh... is a pretty common fantasy/mythic trope, but I couldn't tell what, exactly, the story was going for. In other words, is there a "pure bad" Lumiat Roaming the universe in addition to the, "pure good" Lumiat we see here?

It sounds like the body was completely deconstructed into atoms, and then those same atoms were reconstructed again into a new body. So basically like regeneration but a bit more severe and precise.

With each story, I think a running theme is becoming a little more prevalent in this set: Missy is wanting attention from the Doctor. I think Treason and Plot is an example of how something like that could do a disservice to The Master and specifically Missy. There’s the temptation to have her interfere in things for the sake of it and I think that is more in line with The Meddling Monk than it is Missy. There needs to be some menace to it, which is sorely lacking in this story. Now I understand the ending tries to justify this, with the Monk calling out Missy on her meddling, but it doesn’t really hold up for me. The exchange could work perfectly well and still be true to Missy’s character. Another disservice is having Missy constantly put on different voices. Michelle excels at it, but it’s far too overused here, and seems to have inadvertently become a character trait. As it is, the story just seems to plod on a bit. It’s sort of just there. I wasn’t interested in Rita, I found her a bit irritating in fact. I did like the brief appearance from Philip “Tony Angelino” Pope, though. It’s fun, I suppose, but it shouldn’t start and end there, and I’d argue the fun factor is entirely down to Michelle Gomez and not the script.

I’m almost beginning to think at this point that ‘Missy’ is the closest Doctor Who has gone to a comedic spin-off. That’s not to it’s detriment or anything but just an observation on my part. A lot of that probably has to do with Michelle Gomez’s energetic performance than anything else.
In fact, I’d be curious to see her play off McQueen’s Master. I think they have a lot of fun when it comes to their plans so they’d either get on a storm or come to blows.

Brimstone and Terror was a fine sequel. There’s nothing really spectacular here, but it didn’t overstay it’s welcome. Do wish there’d been more interaction between Missy and Strax and it’s a bit disappointing that Missy’s motivation so far is just to get the Doctor’s attention. Treason and Plot is a fun one overall. Not much more too it, just a story of Missy tearing around 1605 causing chaos with a frustrated Time Agent in her wake. {Spoiler} That said knowing that the Monk is in the background (it’s pretty obviously him, and his appearance in this set isn’t exactly a secret) does hurt the story a bit, as you end up just waiting for him turning up.

Treason and Plot was perhaps the weakest in the set, enjoyable enough, but not particularly much of a standout. Too Many Masters might be my favorite for the Monk and Ogrons and just insanity.
