An interesting return for Martha. Her dynamic with Gwen here works well and the sticking to the corpse’s perspective lends the story an interesting edge.

An engrossing return for the best well rounded 21st century series Companion Brilliant Sound FX Surprising good chemistry Hope we hear more from Martha/Freema soon Missed a trick though talking about the breakup could've said "He turned out to be a right Devil " Regards mark687

I liked this for the most part, but I did start to find the constant bickering very grating by the end. I actually nearly paused it just get a break from it, but I was interested enough in the plot to stick with it. It's definitely one I'll enjoy more a second listen as I'll know how to mentally prepare myself for it next time One thing I interpreted from the interviews (though I could seeing the imaginary patterns that aren't there) - it kind of sounded like Gwen might be coming back to the main series. Eve was talking a lot about Gwen being a "fixer" of issues rather than an avoider, and that doesn't really tally with the end of Aliens Among Us (from what I remember, I haven't listened to it since release). Oh, I also started to wonder whether maybe Martha might be turning up in whatever will be Series 7? Given the end of God Among Us, I wouldn't be surprised if Jack turned to Martha for some tips on keeping a low profile...

Like I say, could be seeing the imaginary patterns that aren't there

Really enjoyed this. It’s my first monthly range release since ‘Cascade’ and I properly enjoyed it. It’s made me want to go back and listen to the ones I’ve missed. Looking forward to hearing more from Martha (my favourite companion) in the future. After hearing this I’m hoping their intention was to set up a spin off set after it when she’s freelance but time will tell. Performances were very good and the threat, while not the main or even secondary focus of the story, was a nice background plot.

This was good. I was not blown away, but they could certainly have done much worse for reuniting us with Martha. Only one thing- having done many maggot infested (animal) post mortems myself.... maggots do not make sounds. They are much more stealth ambushing you. And pour out at you. And then there is the smell... Anyways. Enjoyable. Not quite as horrifying as I feared.

Have it admit that it has become a new favourite of mine, brilliant chemistry with a warm welcome to Martha Jones!

I think there was a nod to the first torchwood full cast play done by BBC. Ie when Switzerland is mentioned. I like how BF does this as they did the same in Torchwood Archive

Was it just me, or did Martha’s backstory (ie what she’s been up to since her mini-arc in TW S2) make it seem like the gap between S2 and CoE is waaaaay longer than anyone’s ever thought of it?

Rich Cross's review has just been published on CultBox: mentioning "...deliciously creepy sound design" and saying "Through an engrossing (and occasionally gross) hour long dilemma, Dissected peels back the surface layers of these characters and their shared predicament to reveal hidden truths that are unsettling but also a cause for hope."

Once again, Tim Foley proves to be my favorite Torchwood writer. This episode was well worth the wait, it did not disappoint and I'm glad Freema Agyeman came back on a very good introspective story.
As a whole, I thought this season of Torchwood's MR was weaker than the previous two because some episodes were just okay to me, for example Smashed or Sargasso, but I really enjoyed Night of the Gwendahl, The Green Life, The Hope, Dead Man's Switch, Fortitude and Dissected. I hope April's episode is as awesome as it sounds.
I still think Torchwood is one of Big Finish's best ranges at the moment, especially in the Doctor Who universe. I wish DW's Main Range was as creative as the episodes we've been getting from Torchwood for the last few years.

I definitely agree with you on the Green Life and Dead Man's Switch which were absolutely exceptional. And this comes from someone who does not really follow Torchwood.
And the April Release really does sound indriguing....
And I totally agree on the Main Range... although I have to say I was really quite surprised by the last 5th Doctor stories.

Apparently I forgot to comment on this! Really strong story, especially as Martha's return to the Whoniverse.
A minor nitpick is that it kind of contradicts The Dalek Transaction from the UNIT series, which suggests that Martha's still working at UNIT into the 2010s. (Although "Dr Jones" is a vague enough reference that there could be another Dr Jones at UNIT who has experience with Daleks...)

UNIT had a 'Dr. Smith' working there once...
EDIT: Random thought - wouldn't it have been just like River to choose 'Dr. Jones' as her UNIT alias for that very reason?! If UNIT had some alien tech she liked the look of - we know River don't we?
