Does anyone know if it would be possible for Big Finish, or the artist involved, to release downloadable music suites, or scores to some of the earlier Big Finish releases that slipped through the cracks of the "Music from the New Audio Adventures" CDs? (Thinking Chimes of Midnight, Jubilee, Neverland and the like, all with great soundtracks) I know that Jim Mortimore made some of his scores available for download on Bandcamp (Davros and He Jests at Scars both worth a listen) - is there any legal or technical reason that BF couldn't release separate music suites or scores for some of their earlier neglected titles?

Jim's Seasons of Fear's score is also very much recommended.
As for BF's earlier musical suites, the only thing I can suggest is emailing them and enquiring. I imagine they've had more than a few enquiries over the years - myself included - and I would love to get hold of some of those old OSTs (Russell Stone's music was always wonderful).

Hello! Thought I'd chime in on this.
Arrangements may vary, but generally the below is true.
Big Finish license music from composers so the rights to their compositions remain in the hands of the artists. You'd have to check on an artist by artist basis to see whether or not they'd released it. Generally speaking recently BF's composers (myself included) have taken to sharing the work they've done via their personal websites, band camp and soundcloud pages. So if you know who the composer is and they have something like twitter or a public email address, you can ask them directly. Generally speaking a composer will be ok with you saying "if you release that I'd pay for it", but a lot of the time we'll just release it because we love it and want to show it off! So while there isn't really any reason BF couldn't release them, there is a lot of paper work behind re-releasing music suites on a compilation for instance. I think that's why BF add on the suite to main range releases these days.

David Darlington has a bunch of BF music available on bandcamp. It looks like entire scores rather than suites, though, so it might be a bit much to digest.

My gawd when I quickly realised it was original .. My love of these stories grew. They do add to the atmosphere.
Thank you,

Hello again.
I would agree the music composed for Big Finish stories is generally excellent and adds greatly to the story. I was therefore delighted when they started including music suites with their releases. My least favourite piece of Big Finish music is that from The Scorchies. The composers have created the most remarkable earworm ever. It is still stuck in my head, two weeks after my last listen to The Scorchies. Indeed, even after only hearing this story once 'Jo is making a thing' was going round and round my head for literally months. These songs do make The Scorchies a great story though.

The music suites from 'The Wrong Doctors' and 'Jubilee' are both fantastic.

This might be the weirdest compliment we've received!

Hello again.
It was indeed a compliment Foxyason. I enjoyed the Scorchies immensely and it wouldn't have been the same without the music and songs. I was interested in hearing how you went about writing and recording the music in the extras section. I don't know why but 'Jo is making a thing' is more effective than any other earwormy tune I have come across. I have always been a great enthusiast for Doctor Who's incidental music and I look forward to hearing your music in another production soon. 'Jo is..." Oh no it's stuck again...help...'is making a thing. what a lovely thing to sing about...'
Best wishes.

Well actually you can thank Lauren for the tune (so the ear worm is mainly hers!) and me for lyrics/music except for refrain 'Jo Is Making A Thing' which was in James' original script. I have to confess I have been much amused and heartened by the 'Marmite' response to The Scorchies as that's what we'd hoped for!

I wish the Scorchies could be brought over to the tv series!😀 They would be brilliant villains for a Christmas special!🎄😁
