Tally time! -8 episodes long. -Broadcasting in late 2021-possibly early 2022 (date TBC). -Ed Hime and Maxine Alderton returning as writers. -Jaime Magnus Stone returns as director. -One of the new writers will be coming via a Skillset bursary scheme for new talent (also happened for Call the Midwife). -Filming began in November, with safety measures and a longer schedule. -Chibnall has described S13 as 'ambitious' and building on threads from S12. -Chibnall is hoping to air episodes as soon as they're finished in post. -John Bishop will guest star. -Ryan and Graham will be leaving. Yaz will be the sole companion. -Sontarans are returning, in classic grey uniforms. -Weeping Angels sighted filming. -A pair of white-headed aliens sighted driving a car. -Dhawan has not yet been contacted to return as the Master. -There will be an episode featuring nursing pioneer Mary Seacole and her work in the crimea. Sontarans will feature. -RUMOUR: S13 may have a darker tone. -RUMOUR: Jo Martin's Doctor may return. -RUMOUR: Sontarans may appear in more than one story.
-RUMOUR: There may be a Xmas/New Year's special to plug the gap if 2021 is not viable. -RUMOUR: The Angels are for a new VR game, not S13.

....and in today's Archewell Podcast, a special response to news of the Doctors continued incarceration....."There was a police box in a junkyard. We didn't know where it would go"............."Doctor in distress! Bring her back we won't take less!"

I'm sure there could be an established workaround:

I'm sure there could be an established workaround: I'm sure you didn't mean it this way, but this joke does come off a bit tasteless, considering it's Covid.

I mean say what we will about Chibnall's run. It's worthy of plenty of criticism. That said, the fact there hasn't been a single 20-something white girl from the London area as a companion is a really wonderful breath of fresh air to the entire dynamic of the show and especially the New Series.

Amy was Scottish, Clara was from Blackpool and Bill wasn't white - doesn't Moffat deserve that praise?

If we want to get technical, the Doctor usually doesn't have blonde companions.

It's interesting that he'll be coming aboard right after Graham leaves, but is going to be the second-oldest companion ever to join the show (followed by Nardole, Ian and Donna - to give you a sense of how young an "older" companion usually is!). Hope he's not too similar to Graham, but I'm always happy to see new companions!
(And we'll definitely be seeing Graham and Ryan again, yeah?)
EDIT: To the conversation above - it is pretty funny how we all talk about the archetypal companion being "contemporary London girl, 30 or younger" when there's only been two since Ace and none since Martha. And who else is there? Dodo, Polly, Liz, Jo, Sarah, Ace, Rose and Martha. So eight total. Although changing that "London" to "British" adds Mel, Amy, Clara, Bill and Yaz...
What I'd like to see more than anything is someone non-contemporary. Remember when we were all psyched that Bill might be from the 80s?

With all the RTD imitating Chibnall does, at a guess, we get a great re-union of the whole gang (including Jack and Ruth) for some type of Endgame. Journey's end style.

Jack and Ruth? From the Benny audios? I'm excited.
