Who's the old grey haired geezer with the accent? Oh yeah, that's Peter Capaldi. That would liven things up a bit. I wish it were true 😢

That's Lazy and Cheap even for IMDB They could've gone for "And now "Rolling with" the long lost Gallagher Brother" Regards mark687

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

I feel sorry for Jodie but not Chibs but it also sadly guarantees the maximum possible audience this year Also 13 for BFs DW 6Oth entry? Regards mark687

I’m just baffled why this wasn’t announced on Sunday. Why 4 days later??
So a farewell trilogy of specials in 2022…then new showrunner and Doctor for 2023…hopefully?
God help whoever they find, starting out in the anniversary year will be a baptism of fire.

The quote: "“I wish our successors – whoever the BBC and BBC Studios choose – as much fun as we’ve had. They’re in for a treat!” - fills me with optimism that the show at least has a future. If CC and Jodie aren't leaving until 2022, that gives a fair amount of time for any future production unit to at least set up whatever comes next. Get Chris Bidmead back (only joking - or am I?)!!
This double exit keeps things fresh, which is essential for a show that's all about change. If there's one thing from CC's era that should be taken forward, it is his view that 'Doctor Who is not a focus group.' I love that quote.

I hope we get a good 14 and new showrunner🤔 I wonder if we will sort of end up with a package deal of a Doctor and showrunner who know each other and have worked together before like Chibnall and Whitaker? Hopefully they already have someone in mind for both. I think it could be exciting if we really get a wild card creative team! Perhaps a show-runner who has a difference reference base for DW perhaps more nostalgic for RTD and the Moffat eras than the classic era or totally coming into DW fresh. Also a female showrunner could be cool since we have not really had one since the 1960s as far I know. I feel like we have had the same breed of showrunners with very similar reference points and nostalgic for the same eras for a while (not that they are not all very talented and have created memorable eras which they have). Also I still hope that Jo Martin is considered for 14 if not I hope someone equally talented and unique is chosen. It probably should be another woman but if it has to be a man maybe someone like Dev Patel would be a good option.

Although a new Doctor will give the 60th anniversary an extra 'oomph' and make a lot of headlines - and vice versa.

The panel was pre-recorded so probably recorded months ago, maybe before the exit was made official internally

Anything could happen, but it seems like McTighe is the most obvious choice as next showrunner: since he came back from Australia, it seems like he's been making hard roads back into the industry here (taking over Discovery of Witches, The Pact and another show coming soon called The Rising, which has some S12 writers on it too), producing material that would make him a viable candidate/name beyond just having Wentworth as his major thing.
Unless it's a total dark horse, I can't see a lot of immediate choices: Alderton probably still too junior, Patel's doing his own thing, Hime's never been the head of a series and Wilkinson seems to be pivoting more to directing. Maybe it could be someone older, like Whithouse, but I'm not betting the farm on it.

I don’t know what else she has done but I know she has penned some really good DW episodes and it might be cool to have a female showrunner in modern era DW since we haven’t had one yet.
