She doesn't have to go back on her decision of leaving, she just need to sign up with Big Finish! They all sign up with Big Finish...in the end.

In all seriousness though, I do hope that Whittaker does consider doing audios. Not only does it mean more time as the Doctor but still letting the show go forwards, it could mean a lot to many fans.

I think she will, although I think from fandom there's an expectation that once an actor leaves the show they'll move on to BF quite quickly. I can imagine any actor left the role of the Doctor for a reason & would like to explore many other roles before returning to the TARDIS. I think McGann was the one with the shortest time between being on screen & being on audio, 5 years between his appearance on the TV movie (1996) & his first audio adventure, Storm Warning (2001).

This is my theory of the plot for Episode 1 of Flux based on all the information we have so far.
The Halloween Apocalypse:
Dan Lewis's mother gave birth to him at a young age and as a result of this Dan grew up poor and living on the streets of Liverpool with his mother and father (Neville) Eventually, Neville would find a well-paying job but not before Dan's mother died of a sickness. Because of this tragic loss, Dan works as both a plasterer and a volunteer for food banks and soup kitchens and his father is currently dating a woman named Eileen, with whom Dan is friendly but still feels uncomfortable around. However, Dan's habit of constantly helping others caused his many romantic relationships to sour, including his fiancee, Diane Curtis, who now works at the Museum of Liverpool. Dan also has a therapist named Anna who is helping him deal with his various problems but she may not be what she seems.
However, everything changes when Dan's co-worker at the plastering company named Karl is revealed to actually be a dog-like alien with a cloaking device named Karvanista. Meanwhile, the Doctor and Yaz are having an adventure on an alien world being chased by robot drones before the planet is destroyed by a mysterious space-time anomaly known as the Flux. The Doctor also beings having visions of the Fugitive Doctor, the Timeless Child, the Founding Fathers of Gallifrey (Rassilon, Omega, and Tetuan) as well as two crystalline aliens called the Ravagers. Back in Liverpool, Karvanista kidnaps Dan after he finds out his secret but doesn't want to kill him due to their friendship.
It turns out Karvanista is a survivor from the destruction of his home planet due to the Flux, which can erase whole planets from existence and only time travellers and time-sensitive beings can fully remember them. Because of this, Karvanista doesn't even remember his past life and is trying to preserve various powerful time artefacts of his family and civilisation on a mobile space station. Just when Karvanista considers letting Dan go, the station is attacked by a squad of Sontarans whose memories have altered due to the Flux destroying his homeworld of Sontar as well as the Rutans.
The Sontarans attempt to steal the time artefacts to go back and find out what happened, but the two are saved by the Doctor and Yaz, who are trying to investigate where the Flux is coming from and how to stop it. The Doctor and Yaz take Dan in the TARDIS before helping Karvanista escape from the Sontarans, but not before the Sontarans steal one of the artefacts, allowing them to travel through time. The Doctor and Yaz then try to return Dan to Liverpool, but the TARDIS begins malfunctioning and breaking apart, the Doctor, Yaz, and Dan are then violently ejected from the TARDIS onto the battlefields of the Crimean War as the TARDIS explodes into a million pieces above them. The Doctor is speechless...

Is there any indication that Flux will be on iPlayer in HDR, like Revolution of the Daleks? I thought that was a nice surprise and enjoyed it.

McGann's the fastest main Doctor to sign up, but the first War Doctor box set was only two years and a month after Day of the Doctor! (I'd be thrilled to hear some Jodie BFs, myself. I think her exuberance would translate very well, the kind of voice you can "see")

I agree, I think Jodie would comfortably be one of the better audio Doctors purely because of her voice and the way she plays the role.
Jodie’s actually done a lot of audio / voice work during her tenure thanks to the merchandise becoming a lot more interactive - escape rooms, video games, Time Fracture, etc. - and she always shines in them. I also think the same when she’s solo and would like to see that delved into a bit more.

Still very much of the opinion that the Division are involved in this season. Plot twist for Flux. Last season we thought we say the Doctor being recruited into the Division but the Doctor was the one doing the recruiting. The Doctor created the Division.

Mandip Gill popped up on BBC Breakfast this morning. Mainly talking about her experience rather than anything on the coming episodes themselves.
