:-( Well, in Europe we now use wastewater tests to monitor the overall COVID situation. I think it is a useful tool to have at least an idea what is going on.
Of course it is not very accurate, as you can imagine.
Also, our PCR test is EXTREMELY sensitive. It will come back positive even with minute amounts of virus, and I am talking about a few hundred particles here.
With a wastewater test, you cannot tell if you have many people shedding few particles or a few people shedding large amounts. You would need a soothsayer for that.
As for you bringing your own water- I would say, if your work forces you to drink wastewater, you might have other problems than COVID....

Interesting article, & I guess it relates to our health. BP staff set to work from home two days a week. Flexible working is a great idea for those who can, but making it mandatory? Not so sure. Although a few offices will downsize which will mean less staff can be on site, which is a preferable cost saving measure to redundancies.

My son's workplace has been on a staggered schedule for quite a while, where not everyone goes into the office every day in order to increase social distancing. Not sure how many days he has to go in. When I spent time with his family (I was there for about 7 weeks) last spring, he was basically working from home. After I left, around last June or so, they switched to the staggered scheduling.

Well, my motivation has taken a nosedive. Even though I do my work at Uni and it is not difficult at all, I'm mentally checking out. TBH, I've mentally checked out since the end of January and just holding out until the end of April.

Another update at work from the "Pandemic Response Team" this morning :
"
The Pandemic Response team are continuing to monitor the situation across Australia and, in particular, SA and the NT. Due to the strong management of the Pandemic across Australia, and the continued roll out of the COVID vaccine, with effect from Monday 8th March any staff member who travels interstate or who has close contact with, resides with, or provide accommodations to a person travelling from an interstate location where the government has declared an open border policy, must notify their Manager and the Executive Manager People & Culture of the location where they are travelling to (or where visitors are travelling from) and the mode of transport. Subject to the approval of the leave and travel, the staff member will only be required to undertake a COVID test if directed by the Executive Manager People & Culture. This means that for the majority of staff travelling or providing residence to guests from interstate they will not be required to take a COVID test prior to returning to the workplace unless they have cold / flu symptoms or are unwell. Staff who travel are advised to put in place additional safety measures to protect your health and safety including wearing a mask, maintaining social distancing measures, taking hand sanitizer/wipes and wiping down any public area (including planes, trains or buses) prior to use.
For any staff member travelling to a closed border region, you must notify your Manager and the Executive Manager People & Culture, ensuring that you quarantine and are tested in line with the State/Territory Government requirements.
Further to this, the Pandemic Response Team have approved groups getting together to celebrate with food. There are some strict food handling guidelines updated in POL **** and POL **** which stipulate that when staff are in the workplace and eating together, they are required to eat individually packaged meals or where food will be shared, that food is served by a person wearing a mask and gloves and using sanitized serving utensils to ensure no touching/cross contamination of food.
It is critical to emphasize that the strong management of the Pandemic is a result of not being complacent and that all staff must continue to practice good hygiene and social distancing standards at all times in order to minimize the potential spread of the virus. Staff are advised that if you have any COVID-19 symptoms, no matter how mild, get tested."

And another update at my workplace:
(2-3 positive samples in sewerage, from sections NOT linked to the medi-hotels which has the powers that be in Govt concerned)
"Due to the presence of COVID-19 traces in wastewater in the Adelaide CBD, it’s imperative that anyone who has been in the Adelaide CBD in the past week seek immediate testing if they have any COVID-19 symptoms, no matter how mild. It is critical to emphasize that the strong management of the Pandemic is a result of not being complacent and that all staff must continue to practice good hygiene and social distancing standards at all times in order to minimize the potential spread of the virus. I thought you needed the CDs as insulation? At least over here winter is not over yet and snow is forecast. I would hold off selling them just yet....
Not sure if it will help, but something small to share some hope (and I love this one to bits):
