There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Heads up to Australian posters during the vaccine rollout here: A few people have been caught out by their GPs asking them for a consultation prior to the jab. Something billed separately to the vaccine itself. If you're being asked to pay, out-of-pocket, for a consultation beforehand in order to receive it -- dispute it. The suitability assessment, the cost of the vaccine and the vaccine delivery are all covered through the Medicare Benefits Schedule. The process should be free.

Well, this is the most American solution ever to vaccine doubters:

Mentally completely exhausted. Situation here is dire. Government completely screwed up with buying vaccines, so so far, 6% of our population is vaccinated. At the vaccination summit last week they decided that also general practicioners should vaccinate, besides the vaccination centres. Problem- there is NO vaccine. General practicioners get 20 doses. PER WEEK. So it is estimated that maybe, with luck, we will be vaccinated by the end of the year. Until then, we have no perspectives. We will have a near permanent lockdown till then. Nothing to take your mind off, only places to go are work and sit at home. At my company, we have now a test centre for the quick tests, but they are lackluster at best (we tested them and they are not very sensitive at all). So the strategy of quick tests is lackluster at best.
Easter will be very lonely again, because severe lockdown and our government does not want anybody to leave the house. I will have to work anyways.
This is just so frustrating and totally exhausting. I have nothing to look forward to this year, none of my coping mechanisms are open (swimming, sauna, anything), no events, no conventions, no holidays, ......... Only bonus is- yes, I am saving a lot of money. But one wonders- for WHAT exactly?
The next person who tells me that Germany is so great with organizing and producing stuff will get their face punched. The situation right now shows you what is really happening.
Sorry about the rant. Not having a good day, and it only just started. off to work.

Well, this is the most American solution ever to vaccine doubters: Yep, already got mine. You can get one a day! I think it's brilliant marketing. People who wouldn't normally go to Krispy Kreme are now going. They get a free donut, but they also buy coffee, more donuts, etc. Brilliant.

Certainly not seeing any winning here....
This does not even have anything to do with politics anymore. These are some middle aged toddlers that throw a tantrum because they screwed up and now they try to placate their bruised ego by a lot of screaming and stamping their feet. Sorry, but it is an insult to even call this "politics" and "buerocracy".
I do not think there is any evil plan or nefarious scheme at work. Because that would require some level of competence.
Sorry if I have to disappoint....

You get vaccination doughnuts, I heard that Australian voters get a "democracy sausage" when they go to vote (the mind boggles) and what do we get? Nothing! It's an outrage!

We got wind of a fellow diagnosed with the UK strain of the virus last Friday. Nobody I knew had plans to go anywhere, so it hasn't been too disruptive on the ground. Best to go through those 72 hours, nip it in the bud, and then hopefully get on with things in whatever capacity suits best. If worse comes to worst, deferred chocolate tastes even better than instant gratification chocolate.

This will be the second Easter in a row nobody here can see their families. You are doing the right thing, and you might grumble for a few days, but to see what the alternative is... just look over here.
I also wonder why they still let people come into Oz? I thought they only had a contract with the Kiwis? And the Kiwis are free.
