Yep, already got mine. You can get one a day! I think it's brilliant marketing. People who wouldn't normally go to Krispy Kreme are now going. They get a free donut, but they also buy coffee, more donuts, etc. Brilliant. I'm quite envious. You get vaccination doughnuts, I heard that Australian voters get a "democracy sausage" when they go to vote (the mind boggles) and what do we get? Nothing! It's an outrage! We have to pay for a Democracy Sausage, though. Most polling booths are at schools so the parent groups use it as an opportunity to fundraise.

Just announced, statewide lockdown in Brisbane Australia as of today for 3 days as of today- during Easter trading week.. 10 cases over the weekend so it's back to square one for them.. :-( Now imagine lockdown for 3 months and counting. This will be the second Easter in a row nobody here can see their families. You are doing the right thing, and you might grumble for a few days, but to see what the alternative is... just look over here.
I also wonder why they still let people come into Oz? I thought they only had a contract with the Kiwis? And the Kiwis are free.
We've honestly been extremely fortunate given the circumstances. Since March 1 2020, Queensland has conducted over 2 million tests, 1400 confirmed cases and faced a total of 6 deaths. Our hard lockdown started in March 2020 and the rest of the year was essentially a lot of back and forth between levels of restriction. Whenever there was an outbreak, all the barriers went up. Borders between states didn't remain open for very long. I double-checked, actually, this isn't even our first three-day lockdown of 2021. We had one back in the beginning of January that I'd completely forgotten about. So far it seems to be working and I'm happy to say looks like everyone's taking it seriously, the streets have emptied over the past few hours to nothing.

Knowing the UK we'd end up with competing groups trying to sell red and blue sausages and insulting each others' product.

Pleased to report I've followed in the footsteps of Old Sixie (though I doubt anyone will be asking me to play the Doctor, regardless of jab status!)
Oxford/AZ first dose last week.

My health is crap, but I was finally able to schedule the first vaccine dose for Friday!

Update: is there a polite way to gently remind pharmacists that queues exist? Or of basic CDC distancing guidelines? And that it's not a sterile cloth if you keep using the same one over and over?
Vaccines in the US are wild. If I get sick, I'll know why.

Shock of the day- my sister and the whole family are in quarantine. Kindergarten and schools are closed. There were a couple of COVID positive kids. The shocking bonus fact- it took the health department 10 (!!!!) days to notify my sister. So if they were positive, they could have infected the whole village. There are just too many cases and the health department is completely overwhelmed. This is scary, but from looking at my day job, not very surprising. Good news is that my sister and family have not had any symptoms so far. But it is pretty bad for the kids who now need to be locked up inside.

Well Covid depression has hit. I've been coping ok but these past couple days I've taken a dip. Weird as I am finally going to visit & stay with my family next month.

I had my second Covid vaccination yesterday. AstraZeneca. After the first one, I couldn't get out of bed for 24 hrs (not ill, just without energy), so I braced myself for the after-effects this time round. Nothing. No side effects whatsoever. So - just in case anyone is worried that the second jab is 'worse' than the first - it isn't always the case!

It was either Monday or Tuesday that I overheard one of the infant caregivers telling another parent that her son was coming down with something; congestion, runny nose, etc. Yesterday, my kiddo got sent home with a fever, congestion, runny nose. Apparently all attending infants came down with it. Annnnd guess what I developed over night? No positive COVID tests thus far, so that's good. I actually don't think I feel all that bad. I thought I was definitely hit hard when I rolled out of bed, but that's because I barely got any sleep between my old cat asking for food she already had, and the poor kiddo coughing out intermittently. I was actually worried enough last night to have packed a backpack with various stuff (ie, water, clothes, books) in case we had to take him in. He seemed mostly wiped out when we got home, improved with Advil, but he woke up hours after falling asleep screaming and coughing. It sounded to me like he couldn't catch his breath entirely between screams....just so much congestion. He's much better today, though we do have to control for fever. The wife and I have our first doses. Moderna vaccine. I get the second at the end of May...
So...err....that's out health. Oh and I need to get my arse into the basement for a weights workout because I've lazed around for the last six days. No good.

On thus plus side, after having to take a ~8 month break from running, I seem to be able to do without the injury recurring. I'm not sure what it was, but it was a repetitive stress injury that had me downright limping around the house. Probably took so long to heal because I insisted on doing my weights workouts, etc., and just sort of powering through.
The last thing I wanted was to be told I needed to wear a boot for months if I didn't truly need it. I end up in some bad places when I can't exercise regularly.

We finally got some movement here vaccination wise. Both my parents have had their first shots. And the big boss of my company got her hands on some left over Astra Zeneca that nobody wanted, so our company doctor is starting staff vaccinations from tomorrow on. I signed up, even after my sister told me she had bad side effects and 3 days fever when she was vaccinated 8 weeks ago (she works as a nurse). Meanwhile, Germany is still in lockdown, but at least there will be less restrictions for fully vaccinated people.

But 'left over Astra Zeneca that nobody wanted' my goodness. At least it found a few sensible arms in the end.
As far as side-effects go, we had OX/AZ and had a very slight feeling of having a cold later that evening, and that was all. Unless you class 'feeling happier' as a side-effect!

I've got my 2nd blue envelope through, so that's my invite for Jag #2. Can't complain about that at all, fully vaccinated by the end of May - way ahead of most of my age group. Still no idea why I've been so early in the process but I'm not complaining!
