Chaos right now in South Australia as I type. It's 4:40pm.. We have as of 2am this morning 2 positive cases,a family decided to fly back to Australia from Argentina. The grandson's entire primary school today went into shut down (today is day 1 of term 3 for the school year).. We are going into "lockdown" without being a "lockdown" over 2 cases. They really really need to listen to the public and stop interstate and overseas travel. This IMHO is the only/main way to stop these infections, and yes they are 99% sure it's the new Delta overseas strain. I have been having an SMS "meeting" with my boss while we both watch the live press conference now on our mobile phones as I am home now. As we are deemed essential service and have the official Government paperwork to prove it- the next 4 days should prove interesting.. :-(
EDIT: My boss is working from home, I am still going into the city for work. This is for the next 4 days, they will evaluate on Friday.
Ho-hum.
Sigh.
4 cases now. It's 8am . Press conference in a couple hours..

We’re in Hobart at the moment and paying close attention to the news as we would like to get home after we’re finished with everything here.

Well, sounds very similar to what we have been through. Only the 7 days became 6 months. However, you still have a very low case low compared and hopefully they get it under control (however, we did not have to deal with Delta before and it is 10 times more infectious).
And I know about being essential service....
I keep my fingers crossed.
Those 6 months were anything but fun.

Well, according to coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/interactive-map/cases - which I consult every morning - in the 7 days ending 14th July the cases in the area around me quadrupled. Make of that exactly what you wish. Then consider what Cummings claims BoJo's attitude was about this disease. (Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't an elected head of state somewhere on this planet who looked at the cost of pensions and healthcare for chronic diseases and secretly wished something would come along to rid them of this pernicious burden... and then took the appropriate non-decisions when their secret desire was granted by Gaia/Mother Nature/Whatever... But that's just the nasty part of my heat-raddled sleep deprived brain rambling. Off to drink another litre of chilled water.)

Day 2 of our full lockdown.. I have officially as per Government order this morning been "banned" from using public transport- end date unknown.
My boss is working from home I am in the little by-the-wayside secure office building, 6 of my female peers and myself wearing masks inside with cans of sanitiser spray in every office.
My boss called me direct just now to inform me of this ban. They are really making sure the Essential Service Workers are protected, I am literally still the only person the new person is supposed to start next Monday but that won't happen that will be delayed as there is no face-to-face training until further notice for Inductions. If I have to go into the head office for an emergency I have a pass for a taxi/uber.
I don't mind, I will save about $50 in bus pass fee's for this week.

We had some essential workers who were locked up (literally) quarantines away from the environment to avoid them getting infected. This was in our very first lockdown when nobody knew how dangerous the virus was and how bad it was going to get.
But very sensible, actually.

So how many of us are fully jabbed? I've had one. Next one in July. Double jabbed, as of this morning. I am fortunate in that I have suffered no ill effects.

So day 7 of our full lock down Should end tonight at midnight..It's 6:30am now.. There will still be some restrictions.. My best mate, his wife and twin boys are in isolation as is the whole primary school. That original infected family that somehow flew back into Australia from Argentina really did the rounds of Adelaide, it spread like wildfire :-(
I am still proud that the Dreaded Number has not moved from #4 since last February. We had the anti-lifer protesters over the weekend in NSW, lots of arrests and big surprise there cases are now exploding.I heard something that lock down over there will last until November(?).. They have Many Many anti-life protesters.
It's funny looking at the protesters.. sleeve tattoos, dyed hair, wearing make up.. All protesting about "pollutants" being put in their bodies.. The irony!

Sigh. We have these no-hopers over here, too. Luckily, the large protests have all be banned and the organizers now face criminal charges (and some of them have fled abroad out of reach of police).
Sad thing is that some actors I admire have supported the movement a few months back, but at least the actor who plays one of the Investigators has since then declared he made a mistake and apologized.
But there are more.

But there are more. There is definitely anger here with the anti-life protestors. Lots of "if you support them/were at the protest unfriend me on FB" posts I am seeing.. NSW cases rose to 173 yesterday, that's not much by other countries standards but here that is huge. We here in Adelaide, I think we have had 1 case each day the last 3 days. That was enough for the State Premier to release the lockdown at midnight, it's 5:50am now. Leaving for work in 30 mins , still lots of restrictions I have seen in the last week in public about 98-99% mask compliance..

So there has been another 177 cases in NSW.. There lockdown was supposed to end this week- been extended till 28th August. The numbers are rising daily there- all states have pretty much shut their borders until they get it well under control.

Found out the bracket for vaccinations opened up last night. Spent the better half of the afternoon looking for a distributor and -- pilgrimage! We're heading off into the wilds to get the first shot of AstraZeneca. At dusk.

So my best mate, his partner and their 8 year old spectrum twin boys are in their 2nd X 14 day quarantine! They all got tested and there was a high risk Exposure day 8 of their quarantine- so back to square !! His partner, she has enough annual leave accrued to cover basically 1 month.. The boys are freaking out as their school routine has been disrupted.

Three-quarter howl for a three-quarter moon. I thought I'd wait a day before giving an update. I've had a few of the usual side-effects, tiredness, a tad dizzy, that sort of thing, but, as of today, I'm otherwise back to my usual health. A little biological curiosity along the way: I got the injection in my dominant arm (closest to the nurse). Over the course of the day, I got a warm sympathetic nerve receptor feeling in my other arm. The one I'd used for injections in the past. Isn't the human body fascinating? I'm sure a competent biologist would be able to explain the phenomenon. Anyway, all done, all well and all good.
