A tremendous shame. A great class act who I think we’ll all remember for his terrifying portrayal of an alternate Doctor in ‘Full Fathom Five’, the wonderfully hammy Charn in ‘Through the Dragon’s Eye’ but also for his best known role in playing the charming (and always it seemed with a wink in his eye) Silver in ‘Sapphire and Steel’ RIP Mr Collings.

Very sad about this. He seemed to be everywhere on the television all those years ago, and it was great to hear him back at Big Finish. RIP, Silver.

An absolute wonder I’m Full Fathom Five and Jago and Litefoot.
A painful loss.

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Hello again. My first memory of him was as Mawdryn in Mawdryn Undead. He was such a presence on screen. His earlier role as Poul in Robots of Death was also memorable. I haven't heard Full Fathom Five but when I do I shall remember a versatile and memorable actor.
EDIT: I've just read on IMDb that he shared two roles with David Warner and Richard E Grant all three have of course played the Doctor but they have also played the role of Bob Cratchitt. Collings in 1970, Warner in 1984 and Grant in 1999.

I first noticed the wonderful voice of David Collings in Rivendell in 1980, when Legolas took his place among the Fellowship of the Ring. (The superb, epic BBC Radio adaptation.) After weeks on the road through the Mines of Moria, Lothlorien and the Battle of Pelennor Fields, the voices of all that splendid cast were like old friends.
Once heard, never forgotten and instantly recognisable in any role, no matter what the makeup or the mask - Vorus, Poul, Mawdryn. And that Unbound Doctor! Also, a pleasure to listen to on the commentary tracks and interviews.
A very sad loss.

That's a shame. He had quite a presence throughout his many roles. His Unbound and Jago & Litefoot turns stand out the most to me - both magnificent. He'll be missed.
