Making sure she put the costume on shows Jodie's class. She took the time to make sure this is "The Doctor", so you can maybe show it to the worried kids. No half-measures. A lovely, lovely message and my opinion of her continues to go up.

That's brilliant. There's something special about being The Doctor. The actors always seem to understand the power of the role to inspire. Jodie's brilliant and I really appreciate that this is 100% in character and 100% encouraging. People need this kind of thing right now and there's so many ways to help.

I probably was not the target of this message but I quite liked it. I wonder who wrote that one?

I adore her so much and her enthusiasm for the role is a joy. 2020 saw a lot of us starting from a rough place (before all this craziness kicked off in earnest). Speaking for myself, starting it with the 13th Doctor and a season full of twists and turns was such a welcome escape for the real world.
Unfortunately the reaction to this clip on other parts of social media included a handful of crybaby man-children. Sadly they get to spend life being them.

(A revised version of yesterday's posting removing the snarkiness that was aimed at the Internet trolls (they don't need the publicity anyway), but which on reflection didn't really read the way I intended it to be read)
Having now had a chance to look through further comments on both Twitter and Facebook this morning it is gratifying to see so many have taken something from Jodie's words while all of this is going on, but it is even more gratifying to see (and as shown in @nucleusofswarm's post) that the children who I'm assuming the message was primarily aimed at are getting something from it as well. Makes the effort of.."hiding from the Sontarans"..worthwhile.
Bravo Jodie. I take my hat off to you for this.

Good on you Jodie, this has obviously helped young children feel calmer about the current situation.
What a wonderful kind gesture.

Hello again.
It is little kindnesses like this that help everyone. This is a particularly worrisome time for children. The tone of the message was just right.

Jodie's back, helping the kids learn: cultbox.co.uk/news/doctor-whos-jodie-whittaker-to-teach-homeschooling-lessons
You know, regardless of however her era turns out story-wise, I'm tempted to call her the most important Doctor of the modern era - when she, rightfully, could've just focused on herself and her family, and certainly after how a subset of fandom treated her, she's donned the mantle multiple times to help kids get through this scary time and keep morale up.

It's really heartwarming to see. All the new series Doctors have been champions for children in their own way. Even Christopher Eccleston quietly recorded special "in character" videos over the years. And there are great clips of Peter Capaldi surprising kids at the Doctor Who Experience and interacting with them as the Doctor.
Jodie is a parent and I'd imagine can empathize with how overwhelming this situation must be for children. I don't think it's me projecting to say these little clips and the effort to provide homeschooling lessons are very sincere and genuinely meant from the heart(s). I'm so glad she got the role and it's wonderful to see how much she cares about what it means to people, *especially* kids.
