Hello again.
Such an iconic episode introducing a new era, a new Doctor, a new companion and Patrick Moore! I'll be watching.

It is, and deservedly so - Eleventh Hour is a perfect little slice of Who. Almost every season on TV and very often with BF we hear about "Great jumping on points" - because "if you haven't watched before don't start now isn't great for encouraging newbies! - but 11th Hour really is one. A perfect place to star watching and experiencing Doctor Who. a rollicking adventure, an instantly likeable new companion team and Doctor who (thank God) doesn't have the regen trauma lie-down which to me always kills momentum. Matt was just The Doctor right off the bat, playing off Caitlin as young Amelia. He truly got the "madman with the box" down in his very first outing.

Also, Amazon Video has The Eleventh Hour as a freebie for today (they did the same for the Vincent and the Doctor watch-along). If you'd like an HD copy of Matt Smith's debut, now's your chance!

Steven Moffat has written The Raggedy Doctor, performed by Caitlin Blackwood. I don't know about anyone else but I think it is absolutely lovely and I got a little misty by the finish.

What he said ⬆️ A totally charming 3 1/2 minutes and made more so by knowing it's Caitlin reading Moff's words.

Hello again. I really enjoyed my rewatch of The Eleventh Hour. It weaves an exciting story from its fairy tale like beginning with the Doctor reenacting when Tigger tries out various foods until he finds the right one. The monster in the corner of your eye just out of sight. The imaginary friend that Amy knows is real and everyone tells her isn't. The performances are great. My favourite being Caitlin Blackwood as young Amy a really effective actor. Matt Smith gives a bravura performance of this puppy-like Doctor full of enthusiasm and energy. Yet realising his youthful experience means he will not always be taken seriously. Karen Gillan is very different. She makes Amy spiky, confrontational and Amy doesn't put up with the Doctor just telling her its important, she needs to know exactly what's going on and why. It looks fantastic, with some super direction and a bombastic score from Mr Gold.
The Raggedy Doctor story narrated by Caitlin Blackwood, written by Steven Moffatt and charmingly illustrated by Sophie Iles was wonderful too. Thanks to all involved. These extras being lovingly created by Who luminaries are a real tonic.
