Listening to the behind the scenes ‘disc’ — I’m always so heartened to hear Paul sounding like he’s really enjoying himself. The direction that his storytelling has gone has me perpetually on edge that he could retire from the role at any time, so it’s very comforting to hear him sounding like he’s still having fun after all these years; gives me hope that there are still years to come. He has been for a while now. He has really taken charge of this. And he even has introduced some friends to Big Finish and gave them jobs. {Spoiler} And, as of the ending, it looks he has done this again with family. Hahahah I cant believe you have implied this hahahahaha

I just finished this! I don't have time to read the thread since I'm about to leave for Rosh Hashana dinner, but I needed to come on here and just say....Damn!!! I didn't see that coming!!
Great job BF. An excellent way to end this series. Now what??!!

The funny thing is lately, you’re more likely to hear Paul McGann go on about how BF and the Eighth Doctor became popular with Americans after the 50th than anything about the BF lunches in the BTS extras.

I actually thought the Behind the Scenes was one of the better ones, certainly given the timing one of the most poignant.

Ok, finally read the whole thread.
I'm not going to comment on Malloy because you have all said all there needs to be said. Fantastic story, brilliantly done.
What I didn't get to say is that I think they finally allowed Bliss to grow a little and make her mark in this one. I really enjoyed Rahkee Thrakar in this one. Probably the best showing for her in all the TW sets. Not the best of 8's companions by far, but getting much better.

I went back after totally enjoying this release and after listening to on the listen through of The Innocents-Hurt Doctor release(I was not impressed by this but given the Ollistra issues the damaging effects of this time War and Multiverse I can let issues go for a while)-to 8DA-TW1-The Starship Theseus-John Dorney and thoroughly enjoyed it ,I did on first listen but left me slightly baffled but given where Time War 4 finally has taken us I owe it to the writers to re-evaluate and not be such a name sayer lol.

My biggest issue with this “final” boxset is the fact it starts on such a high level that the second half cannot live up to the first.
But of course this isn’t going to be the final set and as a lead up to the next it works very well...I wonder when Big Finish will announce another Doctor Who and the Daleks set of stories?
I am keen to hear what happens next, but there is always the danger of....The Overdose of the Daleks!

I am going to repeat myself. But Palindrome. Wow. Just wow. I think the set works as a whole with a slight breather in the third story-as I said it’s a great set, draws you in engages you the full scope and scale of the War is `epic as I have said so sadly lacking in the War Doctor tales in my opinion

My take on Time War 4 is now up at CultBox: In short, a trememdous performance from Terry Molloy and I do love Julia McKenzie as The Twelve.

Epic box set, tense, dramatic emotional, superb performances & brilliantly written.
And that cliffhanger tease.
5/5.
