Can't have a good obliteration without biscuits. Have you read The Heralds of Destruction, Paul Cornell's Third Doctor comic, by any chance? (He asked, thinking to himself this idea... may exist in a similar form already.) Biscuits? There were biscuits involved in the comic story? (quickly scans through the comic, but not finding it). Heralds of Destruction was a good story. Probably something many would describe as complete fan-w*nk, but I liked it.
It had all my favorites in it, on the good side as well as the bad.
Also the story line is something I have a certain weakness for. However, it could be seen as the Doctor Who equivalent of the movie 10000 BC. Sabertooth tigers! Mammoths! Old Egyptians and Pyramids! And then it went completely off the rails with: Dinosaurs! Aliens!
A movie that had everything. I might be one of the few people who had a great and fun time watching it in the cinema. It was a good story, wasn't it? Paul Cornell has this nice... oh, what to call it? A nice, cosy cottage feel to his writing. Reading it is like wrapping up with a warm blanket and a cup of tea. The comic strikes me as him putting a final capstone of sorts on the Third Doctor's exile. An end to three years of the Doctor and UNIT vs. the Master and an alien menace. A thematic end, rather than the literal one we got from The Three Doctors. It's all the small, little touches... {Spoiler}Mike's golden-age nostalgia (set to be used in Invasion of the Dinosaurs) is starting to grow, the Master is thinking of giving up on his masks (wonderful trick there with the masks themselves being a weapon), the Doctor's restlessness about Earth, and so on. [/i]...even those tiny touches like none of the characters having the relevant 70s lingo for "nanites" (after their time), so they use "micro-machines" instead. Titan Comics has a habit of over-egging a lot of its stories with returning elements. Me, personally, I tended to find that a bit of a struggle. It felt too much like it was there for the "wow" factor than for actual storytelling. In Heralds, though, there's a bit of both -- old and new -- and it's used quite well. It all flows together into this love letter for a time of yellow roadsters, mishmashed gadgets, dangerous experiments and Venusian aikido. It's nice to have and it's rather good fun.

Exactly, that was exactly it. Just a nice little story to cozy into. I thought it was quite clever and enjoyable and I did not find it a struggle at all.
Yes, it was over the top, but I have been known to enjoy that type of storytelling (which also includes cheesy overacting).

Spoiler Alert!
She turns out to be Missy in disguise, doing a favour for an earlier incarnation by delivering a Sontaran Urn of Obliteration to the Doctor's lab. And biscuits.
Can't have a good obliteration without biscuits. Have you read The Heralds of Destruction, Paul Cornell's Third Doctor comic, by any chance? (He asked, thinking to himself this idea... may exist in a similar form already.) No, the comics are a closed book to me... or a closed comic at least. Beyond the TV, BF and the Target novels I am shockingly ignorant of Who.
(Which reminds me I've got a few random comics bought as part of Humble Bundles and never read them. *adds to long backlog list*)

I really recommend Heralds of Destruction. I think -- well, I hope -- it'd be right up your alley. It's a really nice addition to the Third Doctor's rota. There's a real sense of respect and thought put into it. (And I am absolutely going to keep my mouth shut on spoilers. As much as I'd like blab 'em now, it's worth experiencing as fresh as possible.)

I just remembered. It was also intended as Paul Cornell's final contribution to writing Doctor Who as well, so it really is a farewell in more ways than one. From the man who brought you: Seasons of Fear, Circular Time, Shadow of the Scourge, 100 Days of the Doctor, Love and War (after a fashion) and many Bennys.

Well I truly Loved ‘The Tyrants of Logic” so a rematch with the Cybermen wouldn’t go amiss..but hey it’s a range that I have enjoyed each story released and truly makes Pertwee tenure more believable than the CONSTANT the Master is the villain TV episodes.
Big Finish throw at me what you got am sure I will buy I think Tim and Katie are amazing together

I just love the Master and cannot get enough of him (as long as it is not Simm). So yeah, I hope we get to see some good old classic predictable cozy Master stories.
