I had forgotten how much I loved this trilogy. And this story is a great bookend to it. Janet Fielding's first story with Big Finish is a very good one. I loved her attitude, she is settled and seems at peace with her life, at least as much as Tegan can be at peace with anything. Her scenes with Five are great, Joe Lidster hit all the right emotional moments. You can feel the affection these two have for each other, but also the tension that underlies their relationship. I love it when The Doctor asks Tegan if she was in love with him. LOL But the jealous bickering with Michael was a bit overdone.
I liked how events in The Reaping led to the situation in The Gathering, however the plot was secondary to Tegan's return and her relationship with Five, however it was still strong enough so that the story had to keep moving forward. And System being this stories connection to The Harvest was a little weak, but I can forgive that. Still a really well done trilogy.

By the way, that moment where Peter's Doctor laughed at Tegan's 'magic' line at the end was...well, magic! Hehe! Tim.

I’ll be honest this story doesn’t do much for me.
The first half’s convoluted structure is neat, but doesn’t really land for me. I don’t think it gives us any real insight into Katherine’s motivations, despite being positioned from her point of view. Her feelings on the Doctor are weirdly firm for someone who’s only met him once. The second part with the creation of System is again neat but doesn’t really land either. Nice that the computer from The Harvest gets a backstory, but I don’t think it really needed one.
The Doctor and Tegan is main heart of the story, when it gets to the point that is, and their scenes do work well.
It’s a fine conclsuion, but for me it doesn’t match up to The Harvest or The Reaping.
