So that’s just ‘a tenth’ of the project...

I think that’s about right. They announced eight companies would be involved and mentioned more types of products that could be attributed another companies.

So I'm guessing the two novels are the main story and everything else will be side-stories that you don't need to read/ listen to; like your typical Marvel of DC event.

Preordered the physical books for once! I haven't bought any of New Series novels in physical form since way back when Series 6 aired but given this is a big event series, it might be nice to have them all in physical form...

TBH I don't think its still all that clear it doesn't say 1st stories, "Essential" or "Kicking off this narrative" in fact their "tie-in" books with "just some of the stories of the Epic Saga" Regards mark687

Both of the novels sound good and we’re beginning to get a better picture of Time Lord Victorious and its premise. It’s all the more strange that the Big Finish product didn’t have a detailed announcement when TLV was first revealed. True but as stated in the BF Podcast after the initial one the BBC have set the announcement Timetable on this. Regards mark687

With regards to the two books slated for release, I see that at 208pp each, and around £10 for HB, that puts them about on par with Eric Sawards recent Dalek novelisations. A bit less than the recent new series Target revivals by 20 pages of so, and around 50 pages less than the average for the earlier, contemporaneous 9th & 10th Doctor BBC books.
I would suggest that they may be more reasonably defined as Novella's as opposed to Novels, surely, given that larger fonts and spacing has been the norm since the PDA's were phased out.

They did a brief announcement and used the Big Finish cover and in parallel Big Finish made their announcement, but didn’t actually reveal any details. They may set the timetable, but BF still made their own news article and didn’t really add anything to the mix. I’m still surprised that it’s very much a Tenth Doctor piece, with involvement from the Eighth and Ninth Doctors. Nothing to be seen of the other incarnations, let alone the current one. I thought there might have been more, but we’ve seen three covers for three products now and they all reiterate it’s Eight, Nine & Ten.

But Big Finish didn't do their own announcement, they just put a cutdown version of the BBC one on their website. Also, I know that there's a rumour that the BBC used the Big Finish cover but it doesn't have the BF logo on it, even on the BF site, and every major detail on the poster, other than Rose, has been covered in the books. I think we can assume that poster was a much more general TLV poster than just one for BF. If it's a 10th Doctor story, why would they force other doctors into it? If the 8th and 9th doctors fit into it naturally that's fair enough but I wouldn't expect this to cover every single Doctor.

I think each announcement is going to be a little bit of extra information that really should’ve been in the initial press release. I’ve no issue with it being a Tenth Doctor story - he’s brilliant - I’m just shocked that a multimedia project doesn’t involve our current Doctor, that’s all. We all have our favourites, but the big items tend to be dedicated to the current Doctor at the time. I don’t think the artwork being Big Finish’s is a rumour, is it? I’m sure it was confirmed by someone involved in Twitter. I could be wrong.

Anthony Lamb (who rendered the Bow Ships for the artwork) described the original artwork as a “poster” for Time Lord Victorious, which suggests that it’s the general artwork for the TLV series as a whole, rather than Big Finish’s contribution towards it.

I had assumed that this was written with the idea that it could’ve been something that existed in 2009, which is why it appears between Waters of Mars and The End of Time on the BBC episode guide. But that’s just an assumption

I grow increasingly curious about this story. Hopefully we get an announcement about the Big Finish releases soon.

It makes sense that the thirteenth Doctor isn’t involved, but come on... War should be there, unless the Hurt Estate said no to the use of his image.on the covers.

Kindle versions of the novels have popped up for pre-order on Amazon for U.S. costumers.

Both kindle releases pre-ordered!
That is the first time I have ever pre-ordered a Doctor Who novel, so the event being linked over different media is working..at least on me. If it had only been a series of novels I doubt I would have ordered even though the write ups sound so interesting.
I hope the BBC will do a YouTube trailer for Time Lord Victorious showing the shared characters artwork from the Titan comics and audio from Big Finish, so that when I read these stories I will have their voices and images in my head.

If they keep the roughly fortnightly announcement strategy we should hear something more about Time Lord Victorious soon!
I wonder which media it will be...
