Doing a little theorizing here-
1) The daleks on the left look like the original Hartnell Era, NOT the Time war.... 2) Those starships on the upper right- Something about them yells... Bowships?
Could this be an alternate 10 who went full bad after Waters of Mars? One that decided to go back and ...'correct' mistakes the Time Lords did throughout history? Or maybe attempt to... influence the way the Time Lords 'evolved' so they would be on a war footing before the Time War?
The Dark Times reference makes me think events like the Vampire War are involved- that war contributed quite a bit to the Time Lords aversion to violence. It would be a great look into an area of the lore they've only ever hinted at.
How did I not notice those great big spikes sticking out of the front of those ships!

Lee Binding, who has created the artwork, has confirmed that they are indeed Bowhips, courtesy of Anthony Lamb.
This sounds like a strong idea. Unbound Doctor Who, but with official Doctors in an unbound timeline.
For an example, take the 8th Doctor. We had one narrative in the DWM when the TVM did not lead to a commission. Plus a simultaneous BBC Books timeline. Plus a Big Finish Audio timeline. Why not encourage different media to work with the same timeline, in a way that Book readers, Comic book readers & Audio drama listeners (and Game players) do not need to follow more than one range, but get more world building and perspective out of it if they do, by narrative layers and side stories?
All the arguments as to what is canon and finding contradictions can be reduced with some form of editorial oversight that we have never seen before. I am theorising, but this appears to be an experiment in seeing if everyone can communicate and work together and still find adventures in their own medium. As the press release promises, it should be fun & with heart.

So, James Goss has said on Twitter that today's announcement and promo image comes from Big Finish alone, and then the rest of licencees will get to make their own announcements. That makes me think that promo image is just for the BF releases and that we will have stories from BF featuring all of the elements that we can see in the poster. Though you'd think if each licensee is going to do their announcement, why wasn't today's press release more specific to BF or even tease some of their releases. On the other hand, we know how Big Finish likes to drip feed us the announcements lately and make three or four news pieces out of the same one. I guess we'll see when Titan and the others make their announcements.
(The word announcement has no meaning for me anymore after this post XD)

Plus with it being so vague its led to the usual "This means Eccleston's involved" stuff. Regards mark687

Regards mark687 It's also odd because if this is just the BF stuff that been revealed today, why hasn't any of it been up for pre-order? It's unusual for Big Finish to announce something and not put it striaght up for pre-order.

hmmmmmm…..please forgive me but very underwhelmed by this idea
lovely art work, but too many cooks and all that......its never worked that well in star wars or marvel events to its movies across multiple platforms and don't see it doing much better here without a flagship tv or film to sell it...…
are we going to have a benny situation where you find huge chunks of a story shoved into a different medium which needs to be got so you don't feel you missed out...…..or something sells out cause you cannot afford to get it
I will wait and see before passing too much judgement, but something this big in this current climate, I fear we might get delays and that would ruin the epic nature……
we will see, not in or out at the moment

Confusing it even more because I don't think with this many licences BF would/could be early, I reckon this was the intended time with the intended message. But its just that message vague enough so that excitement is mixed with "But I don't follow such and such Media type will I be able follow it with just..etc etc " or "just tell me such and such".. type questions. I’m hoping for a Timeless Doctor or two, and not just to piss off the usual tweeting twats.

I'm waiting for more information to come out on this, as it stands underwhelmed. Not sure my wallet is willing to partake of such an ambitious project.

Possibly been picked up before, but haven't seen it, but under this link www.doctorwho.tv/stories/ it is slotted in between Waters of Mars and End of Time.

Goes to show how much people still love Eccleston's Doctor that the internet is constantly buzzing about his possible return and any news like this instantly goes toward speculation that Eccleston is reprising the role.

And at the same time it unfortunately (theoretically) strengthens his resolve to not do it. He must cringe at conventions (much like Smith and Capaldi) being asked that constantly over and over.

He may, indeed. It's probably asked of him at literally every convention he appears at and one can imagine that getting tedious. Hopefully, he sees the positive side of it too, which is that it's really an enormous complement that people want him back so badly.

These seems very ambitious. But not something I'm interested in. I can't abide things that happen across different titles, it happens a lot in comic books.
