I was planning to listen to all 16 parts of The War Master that have been released to date. There are four four-parters: Only The Good, Master Of Callous, Rage Of The Time Lords, Anti-Genesis. I started with the first released four-part serial, which is Only The Good (2017).
I quite enjoyed it: it's a masterclass in perfidy, and Jacobi dives right in. The third part, The Sky Man, represents a good illustration of the one advantage that audio plays over video: things can be hidden from the viewer that would be obvious if they could see the action. Would fully recommend Only The Good.
Having completed it, though, I realised that it must be the last of The War Master stories chronologically. I suppose "chronology" is kind of a nonsense in the DWU: what I mean is that within the Master's personal timeline it is the last to occur.
Do any of you know how the four serials exist chronologically? Or, for that matter, how they are arranged with respect to other Jacobi-Master stories such as The Devil You Know, Concealed Weapon, Day Of The Master, Master Of Worlds? Having looked at the precis I can't see a way to make sense of it.

Check out the Timelines section for the Master's Timeline. It should put all his audio stories in chronological order and among his TV and other stories as well.

Only the Good is last chronologically just because they weren't sure whether they'd be able to get Derek Jacobi back for more than Only the Good. But by all accounts, he had an absolute ball recording it, hence his return for three more sets and appearances in a smattering of other ranges, necessitating that everything else be set prior to that first set The thread elka is pointing you toward is this one, which covers the timeline of all the incarnations of the Master. If you're just looking for a quick summary of the War Master's chronology though, it goes: - The War Master: The Master of Callous- The War Master: Rage of the Time Lords (Parts 1 & 2) - "Concealed Weapon" (from The Diary of River Song Vol 5) - The War Master: Rage of the Time Lords (Parts 3 & 4) - "Master of Worlds" (from UNIT: Cyber-Reality) - "Day of the Master" (from DW: Ravenous 4) - The War Master: Anti-Genesis- The War Master: Only the Good (Part 1) - "The Devil You Know" (from Gallifrey: Time War 1) - The War Master: Only the Good (Parts 2-4) - [long gap in his life as he uses the chameleon arch and goes into hiding at the end of the universe] - TV: "Utopia" His appearances in other ranges absolutely are not critical to understanding what's going on in his own titles, they're just a nice added extra.

Concealed Weapon isn’t essential for Rage of the Time Lords, but if you own the River Song set, then it’s definitely worth slotting it in. It really helps to sell the Master’s plan in the set.

I wonder where the next War Master set will slot in?
Anti-Genesis leads into Only the Good, so his end is well defined.

I'm rather surprised that we are getting another War Master v. Eighth Doctor story.

I wonder where the next War Master set will slot in? Anti-Genesis leads into Only the Good, so his end is well defined. I wasn’t full of praise for Anti-Genesis, but one thing I did like is how The Master or Callous and Rage of the Time Lords felt as though they naturally led into his plan in Anti-Genesis. I suspect Hearts of Darkness & Killing Time will be the same, especially with Narvin involved in the former and potentially the latter.
