Is the actual story as meta as the trailer? Sadly, no. That trailer was something else, wasn‘t it?

I thought it was fine, not poor but nothing to write home about. The two impressions were wildly inconsistent throughout, especially surprising given Dudman’s Smith is what got him his foot in the door in the first place. Perhaps this is me being cynical, but the story does that frustrating thing where it gives lines that the original actors have actually said on screen - whether repurposing them or doing them in flashbacks / forwards - to give you a better impression of the, er, impression because they hit it spot on. But that’s just an impression in its basic sense and I think helps me to understand the issues I have with Dudman and his performances.
The story was okay, it showed promise to begin with and then it sort of went into a different direction that lost my interest. I think the cover connotes a far more interesting story, with the pair of them reaching the end of their respective lives. I love the idea of the Doctor being stuck in Christmas, having lost his leg in the Weeping Angel attack, unable to grow another and finally coming to terms with being the final incarnation. The Metacrisis, healing River’s wrist, etc. all had its affect. Then in wanders the Twelfth, also at the end of his life, and gives Eleven the spark of hope, albeit forgetting it in the end. I’m not fond of the idea of Eleven always knowing he’s the last incarnation.
I’m not convinced that this is the direction the Short Trips should be going in and it’s harder to invest when you’ve got someone in doing an impression, and they regularly take you out of it, in a story that’s in the first person. I genuinely think I’d have a better view had it been, say, Ingrid Oliver, Alex Kingston or Neve McIntosh doing the reading.
Reading back, I sound more critical than intended, but it’s one of those releases where what I’m not keen of I have a lot to say about why!

I Thought the story was just okay i like that it was a full cast short trip with no narration Jacob's 11 was really good but at times it became inconsistent and could just hear Dudman's natural voice Jacob's 12 was ehh not so great i mean he got the tone of the voice right but vocally he needs time to improve it all in all it was a fun tale and for the cheap price i guess its servicable

I loved this. The best Short Trip we've had for a while. It was a terrific story. I agree that Dudman's 12 gets better every time he does it. I don't need an exact reproduction of an actor's voice as long as the performance is good, and it certainly was. I'm looking forward to hearing it again later today!

There's a behind-the-scenes video on Twitter of Jacob Dudman recording the 11th Doctor and Nick Briggs reading in 12's lines as a sort of Scotch Christopher Ecclestone.

I really enjoyed that. Jake's Twelve could still maybe use a bit of work to sound just a little less caricaturesque, but it's perfectly serviceable here and held up well even against his uncanny Eleventh Doctor. Tip of the hat also to Alfie Shaw, quite a good story especially considering only half an hour to work with, and some really amusing lines. :-)

It was a shame it was all over so soon, but it was fun whilst it lasted.
I have been patiently waiting for the Eleventh Doctor Chronicles volume 2 to be announced, now after this reminder of how good Jacob Dudman is at portraying the Matt Smith Doctor, my patience is turning to desperation!

Well, I enjoyed this too. A relatively straightforward story with plenty of fun between the two Doctors. My take is up at CultBox.

I thought this was a lot of fun, and while Dudman’s Twelve is just ok, the story and humour carried it. I did think the first half was better than the second, where it gets a little too complicated, but not a huge deal.
