Little detail i noticed in the video on the left hand side there are symbols which resemble the imperial daleks language font from Remembrance of The Daleks

Roberts is a damned sight better in that video than he is in his River Song & Ravenous contributions. It’s almost making me tempted by the set, particularly as I’m sure it’s a one-off or would work as such.
I think I’ll wait and see if he improves in Masterful before making a decision.

I personally quite liked the dryness of his performance in previous stories but I see what you mean. He's seemingly been warming back into the role and getting better every time. My guess would be that River Song S5 and Ravenous 4 would've been recorded around a similar time so the performance is going to be quite similar, but if he's willing to come back, he must've enjoyed it and with that he'll apply a different energy to his performance.
As much as I love the MacQueen Master and want to see him back with McGann, I simultaneously definitely want to see more face-offs between McGann and Roberts. It'd be a different dynamic that I'd love to see play out in a bigger way than it did in Day of the Master.

Personally, I didn't think he was dry, sincere or over the top in River Song & Ravenous. He was so stilted and lifeless, as if it was simply read for the first time and not performed. You could argue that's a performance choice, but I don't think he was written that way. The only criticism in the writing I could see is how little presence Roberts was given in both releases; though based on what we were given you could argue that's a blessing!
He could be completely different in his own set, but he could equally be just the same, which doesn't appeal to me. The video is promising, but I think Masterful will be the one that sways me into spending £20 or not.

I'll be honest - in amidst everything Big Finish is doing Doctor Who-wise at the moment, this is the set I'm looking forward to the most. This version of The Master remains the most unexplored, the most unexploited, and Eric Roberts is a darn fine actor - the audio mark687 shared above underlines that.
Re: the Dalek squiggles - will they be making an appearance? I hope not to be honest, I'm more than tired of them, and Roberts doesn't need anything to bolster him - unless we get those Smurf-types from the TVMovie. It would be right up BF's alley to explain in some way why they sounded so strange back in 1996. Who knows? Not me - but I cannot wait for this.

Well given Masterfuls Trailer he seemed much more comfortable in the role Then in day of the master and lifeboat

Instead of going completely insane, I'm going to ask if we can just take a moment and consider how instantly quotable some of these lines are?
"I hear transmissions. A billion chattering voices. What are they saying? It's Halloween! I remember...a time when your species embraces its fear!"
Was NOT expecting video. To say that I am pleased is a understatement.
Also, what I think is important to note here is that it isn't just Roberts who has warmed up. The material he is working has as well. It seems Big Finish are now less afraid of letting his Master go bigger and more emotional. After all, the movie didn't go wrong with the Master because of what they wanted to convey, it was the how. Big Finish have zeroed in on presentation, which matters more than anything. You can sell anything, if you're a good salesmen.
I am afraid and I will embrace it! I mean...I already preordered it so, I mean...might as well.

I do think for Mr Roberts will truly come into his own here what with having his own boxset and everything. In the past, I got the sense that he was otherwise unused to the audio format and as such gave in a restrained performance (Can’t exactly blame him, I’d do the same myself) but I do think with his incarnation being the main focus we’ll get more a energetic performance from him.
After all, I don’t recall his incarnation being so sardonic in the television movie as he was in his appearances in River Song and Ravenous. Then again, it has been a while since I watched that so perhaps I’m not remembering correctly.
Also, I wonder if come Masterful he and Beevers Master will have a lot of scenes together. They both have the same motivations after all, to stave off death.

www.radiotimes.com/news/tv/2020-11-05/doctor-who-eric-roberts-master/More details FIND OUT MORE AT THE BIG FINISH WEBSITE: bgfn.sh/7aIt’s been 24 years since his first appearance fighting Paul McGann’s Eighth Doctor. Now he’s back! And it’s about time! Eric Roberts returns to play the Master, as originally seen in the 1996 TV Movie, Doctor Who. Now he’s escaped the Time Vortex to wreak havoc upon the universe in his very own box set of brand new, full-cast audio adventures, due for release in March 2021. Along the way, he’ll meet old enemies, new companions and the universe’s most glamorous and dangerous bounty hunter, Vienna Salvatori (a special guest appearance by Chase Masterson). Abandoned in the Vortex, the Master’s lost incarnation is about to be thrown a lifeline. Earth rebuilds in the aftermath of invasion, and power rests with those who innovate. Genius Lila Kreeg makes a deal with the devil to see her dreams fulfilled. As the Master returns, there are those – like Vienna Salvatori – who wish to hunt him, and those upon whom he wishes vengeance himself... The Master will be doing his dastardly deeds in three thrilling new stories: Faustian by Robert Valentine Prey by Robert Whitelock Vengeance by Matt Fitton Director, Jamie Anderson, said: “Entering this Blade Runner-esque world with the TV Movie Master was a real thrill for me, and it's been a joy to hear our brilliant cast interacting with the effortlessly evil Eric Roberts. The future this writing trio have created is a thrilling place to adventure for three one-hour stories, and listeners are in for a treat when they get to meet the future Earth's characters – both good and evil. Producer, David Richardson added: “The Master continues his cunning plan, by stealth, to take over the Big Finish release schedule – we have the War Master, we have Missy, and now the Movie Master has his own box set, reaching out for help from the Time Vortex – and finding new allies and new foes. Think Killing Eve in a dystopian future and you may just get a taster of what this new direction for the Master looks like.” Master! is now available for pre-order as a collector’s edition three-disc box set (on CD at £19.99) and as a digital download (at £16.99).

I hope this leads into a new renaissance for the Eric Roberts Master. Give him a few stories and he’ll quickly be regarded as a fan favourite.

Well to be fair apparently the lifeboat and the death boat was recorded before he had a flight to a acting gig and day of the master he had to compete with Michelle Gomez and Derek Jacobi’s masters which have had more audios behind them But given his line in the masterful teaser I think they might have captured the right tone for his master as he sounds quite playful

I don’t see how having another acting gig beforehand is relevant and I don’t think acting against other Master’s was an issue; he barely had any interaction with them. If that was the case, then surely he’d be even worse in Masterful! Each to their own, but for me he just wasn’t very good in his two Big Finish appearances. There’s no justification needed behind it. However, the teaser for Master! is a significant improvement and his performance in Masterful will be the deciding factor on whether I take the punt or not.
