Thought this was simply marvellous. I’ve always said Eric Roberts’s’ Master was due a Renaissance and I look forward to seeing where this series goes from here.

Playing catch up with this range and just finished Prey and so far in this boxset it’s one good and one ok story. Faustian was an enjoyable opening story that shows that Roberts is enjoying being the Master and his version of the Master is a refreshing change to Derek Jacobi’s Master (which I love by the way but it’s good to have a bit of variety).
I didn’t like Prey as much. I liked the set up but there was something that didn’t work for me. Not terrible by any means but not as good as the first story.
Now onto Vengeance……

So I’ve now finished Vengeance and it was a good end to the boxset. Whilst I do think the Daleks are overused by Big Finish, their use in this story was perfect and it was nice they made references to the TV movie. Only real gripe with the boxset was the character of Lisa. I just didn’t really see the point of her past the first story. Once Vienna got introduced to the boxset then Lila kind of disappeared into the background.
Apart from that issue, I enjoyed this boxset and would have been gutted if that had been the only one. Eric Roberts is a joy to listen to and it’s good to have a different version of the Master for Bog Finish to use.
3.5/5
