Honestly I can see the positives and negatives of this decisions:
Pros: 1) They can have the stories more collected for each Doctor and their companions 2) they can tell more interconnected stories in the style of the further adventures of Lucie miller 3) each doctor now feels more important and equal with Doctors 1,3,4,8&10 4) if it fails BF said they would go back to old style
Cons: 1) Big Finish will likely get rid of the individual art for each story (compared to MR) 2) the Boxsets will be more pricey and thus customers might be hesistant to buy (or even worse pirate) 3) people will be forced to buy a whole set for Maybe one story that interests them compared to the main range where you can pick or choose

Honestly I’m up for some First Doctor and Dodo stories if they are both full cast and recasted (let’s face it Dodo isn’t the most memorable companion) so maybe big finish can do wonders for her Season 6b I’m excited about- finally some stories with the second doctor with a new companion and setting could be interesting- hopefully Jamie comes back for it The third doctor adventures with Sarah and UNIT could be fun 7th Doctor last adventure sounds okay but lungbarrow should have been adapted

By the way, isn't Hex the oldest serving original BF companion at this point ? I don't know if he's had more episodes than Evelyn or Liv but he's been here for years now. Although, Charley also comes back from time to time. I think Liv has him beat in story count (almost a decade as a regular does that for you) but Hex is still a top tier original companion next to Evelyn imo. There's so much to love about him.

It will be interesting to see how this goes. BF does need to go quite heavy on the publicising of this to (a) reassure existing customers that the best elements of the MR will continue in some form - certainly there is a lot of good material and practice that I'd like them to keep and (b) publicise this well enough to attract new customers.
I was looking at my collection of MR stories. I've got most of them (on CD or download), I really cannot believe that it was July 1999 that we had the first release - The Sirens of Time. It really made me feel nostalgic (and old) thinking about that time. I ended up assigning 'milestones' in my life to certain MR stories - when I passed my A Levels, when I passed my driving test, graduation, etc. Might sound stupid, but I realised how much a part of my life the MR has been and it makes me a bit sad to think of it going... It's like the Fifth Doctor says when the sonic screwdriver is destroyed - 'I feel like you've killed an old friend'.

I think Hex's story arc went on a bit too long, but he's also among my favorites with Evelyn and Erimem. He's such a loveable guy who didn't deserve all this torturing and I'm really happy to see him back for a more laid back release almost every year.

Apart from the exceptional case when I may really want something, I believe my BF days will end when the main range does.

Unless they find a subscription method for these changes I think mine might be too........ a really want them to keep the 4x30min episodes.......for me the 8th & 4th doc really suffers from the 50-70min episodes..... I hope these “new” people they chasing make up for us old buggers who don’t want change.......lol

It's like the Fifth Doctor says when the sonic screwdriver is destroyed - 'I feel like you've killed an old friend'. It is the thing I keep coming away with. 20+ years of original, monthly Doctor Who stories is a remarkable feat. Big Finish quite literally helped keep the flame alive during the wilderness years and then rode the wave after the show came back. Everything changes. Everything adapts. This is just the next phase of it and the best part is no matter what happens we still have 275 Main Range adventures to point to, to listen to and enjoy or not.

Lets hope the re-launch turns out better than the new web-site I still don't get many of the criticisms of the "new" website. It's not like the old one was perfect, and it looks tidier and like it's actually from this day and age. Overall, I think it's fair to say my experience has been far smoother. Of course, I'm not trying to say other people's experiences with it aren't valid, just that I don't get it.

I'm curious about something. I still don't have The Four Doctors. With the Main Range coming to and end, what happens to that and Five Companions? I hope they retain a 12-release bundle option so I can pick it up sometime.

Presumably they will be available for as long as retrospective subscriptions are available, and I don't think they're getting rid of that option

I was concerned they might break the MR up into "The Whichever Doctor Adventures" on the site and retro subs wouldn't work anymore. I'm probably just being paranoid.

As the Monthly Range comes to an end, it would be good to see BF develop the new Doctor ranges in different ways. Ideally, I'd like to see:
1. More Chris/Roz in the 7th Doctor range - these were a good set of stories and some of the best material for a long while 2. Grant Markham in the 6th Doctor range. I know BF don't want to do adaptations, but I'd love to see Killing Ground adapted for audio to spearhead Markham into the range and then a few adventures (especially as Lyons is becoming more involved with BF again) 3. A recast of the 2nd Doctor with some adventures like those of the 3rd Doctor box set 4. More Harry/Sarah-Jane adventures with 4th Doctor
I am sure that they've probably thought of a lot of these things already, but 1 and 2 would be top of my list...

Have a chat with Sales at sales@bigfinish.com and explain how far your subscription goes up to. It looks like they will be able to process an order for #275. www.bigfinish.com/news/v/revamped-doctor-who-audio-ranges-from-big-finish (go right to the bottom of the article) EDIT : oh..and a belated welcome to the Forum! 😊

More Harry/Sarah-Jane adventures with 4th Doctor I am sure that they've probably thought of a lot of these things already, but 1 and 2 would be top of my list... 1) Well Given that it has Volume 1 its possible that there might be more coming (then agian Lady Christina had Volume 1 and we never got a follow up) at this point any 7th Doctor Stories that don't feature Ace all the time is a welcome
2) I Think The Best Choice for Characters from other media sources is to have original stories with those companions (similar to the New Adventures box set above or Company of Friends) and the box set formula works well for it too example: Frobisher could appear in The Sixth Doctor and Peri Volume 2 for one story that would be an excellent way of having him back and still having people buy the box set for other stories
3) From the news announcement BF might be going through the Season 6b route with The Second Doctor and its the perfect opportunity to do full cast especially introducing new companions as well 4) Definitely want more Stories with 4/Sarah and Harry (Sadie from the clip is great as Sarah but Christopher Naylor as Harry i have to hear more because from the short clip i couldn't tell it was Harry) but more importantly i want more 4th Doctor with Sarah, Harry and The Brigadier/UNIT the chemistry between The 4th Doctor and Brig in Robot and Terror of the Zygons was in my opinion more stronger than The Third Doctor and Brigadier and work better as The Bohemian and The Straight Man formula
I just want to see Big Finish revisit their original ideas that they dropped (a 2005 DW Website article listed several Big Finish Stories that either got heavily changed or were dropped one of them was The Sixth Doctor Story in India with Kali and another idea was Sam Jones being 8's Original Companion in the audios (they even had an actress in mind to play her) before being changed to Charley

Oh that sounds interesting! You wouldn't by any chance happen to have a link to said article, would you?
