It has been out for less than two weeks, and is Big Finish's best selling title of 2020 No real surprise to me. And it does perfectly what it set out to do.

It has been out for less than two weeks, and is Big Finish's best selling title of 2020 Since it was first announced, I figured that this multi-Doctor adventure would deliver such outstanding results. Very proud to have got my CD through post, the other day!

There’s a horror movie called Alien? That’s really offensive. No wonder everyone keeps invading you.

Some of those sales are due to the fanservice appeal, sure, but I imagine a significant portion are also due to the relative pricing: Out of Time is a lot cheaper to try out than, say, Legacy of Time.
....
Also, I'm curious, does Big Finish ever release "top 5" or "top 10" bestseller lists for individual years? I'd be really curious to see what their top ranges are. The Time War stuff is probably up there, but I'm curious how popular the tertiary ranges are--Gallifrey, Benny, Unit, Paternoster, etc.

I seem to recall that there was much surprise last year when BF revealed that The Eighth Doctor: Time War 3 was their best selling boxset of the year and not Legacy of Time.

Easy to afford and new listener friendly. This was always going to sell well and I’m glad that it is has. Doesn’t mean BF PR still didn’t drop the ball on the lead up to release and that sales number probably could have been even stronger. Not being privy to sales projections or actual raw numbers, this is of course just speculation on my part.

Yeah, there’s nothing surprising here. It was inevitable that it would be the biggest selling release of the year, I don’t think there’s anything particularly earth shattering about it. How long the release has been out seems moot to me; it’s been available to pre-order for months and the majority of sales will come from pre-orders and day one releases.
Big Finish dropped the ball with the promotion on this one. It shouldn’t just be the obvious big seller of 2020, it should be Big Finish’s biggest selling release full stop. We were told Legacy of Time was their fastest selling release last year, and as mentioned above we know the majority of sales come from pre-orders, so it isn’t as if longevity of releases should be an excuse for Out of Time not taking that accolade.

I had already listened to it twice before my CD arrived A solid, pacy and enjoyable multi doctor adventure-it dosen't do anything all that new with the doctors or daleks but that isn't a bad thing, the cathedral of contemplation was a really cool idea and i hope we hear more of it somewhen. Really enjoyed the interplay between Tennant and Baker (Tbh I'm not a huge fan of the 10th Doctor so it was an added bonus for the script/doctor to call him out on some of his insecurities and darker character traits) and even within such a tight script the supporting characters all manage to have their own arcs as well. Short but sweet, within the limitations of a 1 hour running time+daleks and doctors it does the job very well indeed, though I can't help but feel it needed another ten or fifteen minutes to really flesh out the supporting characters/dalek motivation a bit more. 7.5/10

I think that’s misremembering a bit. Can’t entirely recall, but I think there was a list of the top five or something, with people asked to guess slot 5, which was Eight Time War. The top was, I think, Legacy!

I think there was a list of the top five or something, with people asked to guess slot 5, which was Eight Time War. The top was, I think, Legacy! It was 'top selling collectors edition box sets' with a vote for what the people on Twitter thought was in fourth place, and yes Legacy of Time was top.
It went: 1) Legacy of Time 2) 10DA Vol.3 3) Lucie Miller
4) DW: Time War 3

This surprised me as I didn’t particularly enjoy this on first listen and it was novelty value release BUT this morning as the bus was late and I had to end up walking to work I slipped it on the iPhone app. What an enjoyable fun ride it actually was TOM was definitely the standout performance for me and even the Daleks didn’t annoy me I could imagine The Vast Cathedral etc there were no great surprises as Doctors meeting Doctors isn’t the surprise it is anymore. But the release was far from routine and So much more could have been done with the Cathedral but.....Excellent witty script from Matt Fitton and surprisingly I will listen again out loud on the CD player.Good fun

so am not really a chronology person anymore I was when I was younger but....so much happens nowadays on TV I just kind of gave up keeping any kind of mental Track as am sure the next week it will all be up in the air...So what Dalek War is this?Should I bother? Its not a TIME WAR story I guess going by the cover as the Daleks are Genesis type.
What did surprise me was that The Abbess knew of the Daleks and had heard of them but took absolutely NO precautions to prevent them from entering the Cathedral but hey she is dust now hard luck eh..she Didn’t contemplate hard enough on them 😂

I thought it could be since they are mentioned...Now is Dalek Universe to be set in this war? Perhaps I misinterpreted it but I thought Dalek Universe was going to be set just before the beginning of the Time War? Exploring the calm before the storm if you will.
