What are people's thoughts on how to collect Doctor Who? The BluRay of the classic series seem awesome, however the original releases where it's each serial is perfect if you collect the audios so you can put them in order.
What's everyone's preference? Currently I have mine in the serial format so that I can put the audios that take place before or after as such, but I also don't own many of the DVDs, so I'm not the best judge. What about you all?

I have the full set of Classic Who single-story DVDs, with the exception being Spearhead from Space, which is the standalone Blu-Ray release. My new series stuff from the Tennant specials onward are BluRays as well. They're a mixed jumble of Region 1 and 2 releases, though they are all lined up neatly in order on my shelf running from Hartnell to Capaldi.
I don't have any special display for them, although they do take up three and a bit shelves alone, I have my other TV collections jammed in on either side of them. Six Feet Under before Doctor Who, and Monty Python afterward, then Deep Space Nine, then.... Why that order, I don't know. There probably wasn't a reason. I have seen some pictures online who have made a TARDIS-shaped cabinet to hold it all.
I think my collection would probably drive some of the more nitpicky collectors batty. If they're particular enough to want reversible covers so certain logos match, then the completely different box designs for NTSC and PAL would give them the vapors.
The BluRay season sets didn't start coming out until I was already most of the way done collecting all the single story releases. I've considered buying them simply for storage reasons, but they're not all that tempting an upgrade. Aside from Spearhead and I think the TV Movie everything Classic Who was largely shot on videotape. So unlike film, the resolution of the tape is what it is, there's no more resolution to be had. So they're upscales with less compression.
If I was just starting to collect the series now, I'd go Blu just for convenience's sake, although I'd for sure import the PAL releases. I may have just mocked nitpickers, but the North American releases refers to Season 12 as "Tom Baker Season 1," which drives me up the wall. Every NA Classic BluRay set is like that.
As for the audios, I own very few of them on CD as opposed to download, so what I do have lives separately on a CD rack.
