Not the Release I was expecting this week.
A little cheeky humour and actually another decent showcase for Tosh .
Good effort

When was the last time we got the monthly Torchwood before the monthly Doctor Who?

I'm not a massive fan of comedic episodes, and there were moments when this drifted too far into that territory for my liking ("They're a bit bitey, and a bit killy") - but this was good fun on the whole, and I enjoyed it. The typically Torchwood-ness of it meant that it was never predictable, never straightforward and it had a nice, wistful ending. Apart from anything else, it showed that Naoko Mori has fine comic timing, something she isn't always required to prove. I quite liked the alien - he sounded like Alan Partridge in a headlock!

When was the last time we got the monthly Torchwood before the monthly Doctor Who? Dead Man's Switch last November, I believe.

That was fun. As always, Gareth David-Lloyd nails the more intimate scenes in my opinion. Nice to hear in the extras he actually wanted to write a more light-hearted episode for Tosh since other BF writers usually like to make her suffer.

I usually enjoy the silly episodes, but I just couldn't get in to this one. I was kind of bored through much of it. Oh well.

Mixed views on this one. The overall plot didn’t grab me enough, and my attention wandered. However on the plus the character writing was gorgeous, really well observed, and as a character piece with Tosh and Ianto I thought it was superb. I hadn’t realised who’d written it when I was listening! Very pleasantly surprised. He knows the characters well

After enjoying 'The Last Beacon', this was just about what I'd hoped for - another TW 'buddy' story with plenty of humour. And sometimes distinctly silly! An actual menace to defeat this time round and (since Ianto's teamed with Tosh not Owen) some sensitive understanding between the characters of each other's problems too - when they get a moment in between fighting evil operatic aliens etc.
I enjoyed it a lot, my only criticism (which really isn't one because it was my 'fault') was that I guessed more or less who the villain would be and its role as soon as I knew they were performing 'Faust'. It was a bit of a give-away wasn't it?

Well, that was good fun. Gareth David-Lloyd really is great when it comes to these character focused stories.
Here’s hoping that a story featuring the pairing of Owen and Tosh is in the pipeline for the future.

It was a bit of a give-away wasn't it? Except they first went that direction then they went against it and then they came back again. Bluff or double-bluff, that was the question. Overall I found it quite enjoyable.

Nice change of pace from the previous stories to something a bit more fun. Gorgeous character writing as mentioned above. The story managed to hold my attention all the way through too.
Another good addition to the range and definitely making the cut for the much hallowed (and very long) re-listen list!

Some really beautiful character moments in this one, but the actual plot felt a bit out of place. Would love to hear GD-L write some more for Tosh and Ianto, maybe where they literally just chat in a coffee shop or something, as he writes their relationship really well, and we didn't see much of them together on screen. 8/10.
