I've just finished 'Expiry Dating' and, whilst I will say that I did enjoy it, I will mirror what a couple of others have said in that I think I might have enjoyed it a liiiiiiiitle bit more if the cameos had been a surprise... "Miss me?" "You know, I'm beginning to..." Aaaaw! I finished the series today. I did go into it completely cold (didn't even look at the covers in advance) and so the cameos were quite a surprise and most enjoyable.

I finished the series today. I did go into it completely cold (didn't even look at the covers in advance) and so the cameos were quite a surprise and most enjoyable. This is definitely the way to do it. I seldom pay much attention to covers are rarely look at cast lists or credits prior to listening and it been delightful to hear unexpected voices. Even something as minor and relatively inconsequential as hearing Lisa Bowerman start talking in the BTS track of a random story she helped produce brings a smile to my face, nevermind the lovely !Surprise! David Tenant in some of the older stories.

Finally finished the set.
Expiry Dating is certainly the standout for me, love the plot structure, love the cameos and love how the Doctor(s) and Rivers relationship is portrayed. Very much early days and the story makes you know that. I also like how it acts as a conclusion and we see the doctors reaction to rivers earlier doctor reactions in the DoRS boxsets which i enjoyed.
Also really enjoyed Precious Annihilation, more than most it seems. Probs could have been a bit shorter really and felt more snappy but yeah was a really enjoyable story with a good antagonist.
Ghosts i guessed the twist too early and for me i felt like it was nothing i hadn’t seen before so didn’t feel too impressed. Don’t think it helped there wasn’t a lot without the mystery, just a bit of a runaround, so yeah didn't leave me a lot to cling onto. David and Alex were great as in all the stories.
Overall an great boxset. Two amazing boxsets and 1 okay one is really good, certainly the best Tenth doctor big finish I've heard so far felt like it covered some new ground, was self indulgent but also new which is big finish at its best.

One of the (very few IMHO) positives of BF getting the nu-Who licence is that talented writers get to pen hilarious nonsense for David Tennant to rattle off at speed. Okay, so I'm only half way through Expiry Dating, but so far it is Laugh Out Loud funny. Well done, James Goss.
edit - slight niggle with Precious - 1632 is NOT Elizabethan! She died in 1603. You know this, Doctor, so stop saying it. We're in the latter years of James I / VI.

This set was very enjoyable and I liked how the Tenth Doctor is portrayed as a lot more sceptical of River, though he still can’t help but go along with her. With this and Dalek Universe, I think Big Finish have got a much better handle on how to creatively use the Tenth Doctor without just following templates the RTD era laid down. I don’t know if I’d buy another set though, in the unlikely event that’s possible without a lockdown, as this itch feels scratched now.

I loved this. River and Ten were great together. Hope there will be more.
