Romana is lost to the Time War though Leela and Narvin still fight to survive.
A resistance, caught between Rassilon’s fury and the Dalek Emperor’s mania, have a desperate plan to stop the conflict.
Everything ends. And for some on Gallifrey, the Time War will soon be over. 4.1 Deception by Lisa McMullin4.2 Dissolution by Lou Morgan4.3 Beyond by David Llewellyn4.4 Homecoming by Matt Fittonwww.bigfinish.com/releases/v/gallifrey-time-war-4-1796Richard Armitage as Rassilon, wow! Great piece of casting there, I'm sure he'll be great. I suspect the lack of Romana is a red herring. There are so many recording dates for this one and I know Lalla has moved to Hong Kong and records there now; so I wouldn't be surprised if one or two of the dates are for her. I love the Emperor Dalek, so glad that he's making a return. I hope we go back to Gallifrey and the political machinations, as I felt the third volume was a bit of a mixed bag.

Sweeeeeeeet. Cannot wait for this! And cannot wait to see what they do with Gallifrey afterward, because this is a range that never stays dead lol
edit: And I see that Lalla is not listed on the cast page, so I guess she's well and truly toast then. That's sad.

Well after today’s Rassilon casting announcement I’ve finally ordered some Gallifrey Time War with the boxes 1-4 CD bundle for £90. Hope I like! If not I should be able to sell on the boxes and recoup most of the cost.
Also hoping it’s Gallifrey newbie friendly.

I started with the first Time War set and I had no trouble understanding the plot. Although it helps if you know who Brax and Narvin are.

Another Rassilon recast. Mind you they could do a whole lot worse than Richard Armitage. That is splendid casting but I'm a bit disappointed of Terrence Hardiman being a one time appearance. I hope that Armitage is willing to do a few sets before the inevitable off screen regeneration into Dalton. It would be nice to have him appear in the War Master/Eighth Doctor sets too.

Lots to be excited about with this announcement, not least the release is back on the map for February 2021.
I am especially looking forward to the long overdue return of Braxiatel. He was always my favourite character in Gallifrey.
And then there is Richard Armitage as Rassilon which, now it’s announced, I am disappointed I never thought of him in the role before. I hope he sticks around to face the Eighth Doctor. I wanted the Eighth Doctor to meet Rassilon before, but now I really want Paul McGann against Richard Armitage - the battle of the potential Bonds!

It hasn’t copied over very well, but in the GTW3 thread, when there was discussion of why GTW4 had no release date Scott Handcock said...
scotthandcock Avatar May 4, 2020 14:00:56 GMT 1 scotthandcock said: It was recorded a long while before lockdown, so I wouldn't worry.
But I can see in the backstage section of Time War 4...
Recorded on: 30 July and 3 December 2019, 15 January, 13 and 25-27 February, 10 March, 18 May and 16 June 2020
So I wonder if there have been some last minute additions/amendments and if so what and why!?

Yes, it would have been boring to clarify at the time, but as you can see from the sheer number of dates, scheduling our established leads and recurring characters has been extremely tricky. But, when that question was asked, all our regular cast members (Louise, Sean, Miles, Pippa, Samuel, etc) were all in the can, so a few outstanding characters could be cast with anyone, and thus not hold up production. The scripts haven't changed since they were delivered a year ago - so I'm afraid anyone thinking we've been tinkering away to write in any unexpected cameos from people in lockdown, or staging a last minute session with Lalla in Hong Kong, are unfortunately mistaken. Sorry to nip in the bud, but I know how this kind of speculation can spiral into false expectations...

Is Richard Armitage meant to be a younger version of Dalton's Rassilon, or are they 2 different incarnations? They don't look any less similar than Hartnell/Hurndall/Bradley

Probably simplest just to have him be his own incarnation.

So do we think - No Romana?
Or do we think - No Lalla Ward?

'An exciting announcement indeed! Shall I order the Agency to prepare a temporal interception squad to secure this priceless Time War resource at the earliest opportunity?'
'Thank you, Co-Ordinator, but I have had this matter well in hand since the origin point of its timeline. There is a human technique the Doctor once told me about, called "buying a bundle".'
'Remarkable. For a primitive linear species they sometimes show surprising knowledge of the future.'

So do we think - No Romana? Or do we think - No Lalla Ward? I’m betting on Lalla Ward in Episode 4.

So do we think - No Romana? Or do we think - No Lalla Ward? Isn’t the fan consensus that the BBC said “only TV Romanas from now on”? So it’ll be Lalla or Nada.
